I start where you, the client, is and we make a treatment plan together to reach the goals you would like to achieve. We will develop a working hypothesis that may change over time as new information is obtained. Many mental health issues begin with an event and the mental health issue, be it anxiety, panic attacks, depression, anger, unrelated phobia, facial tic, chronic pain, avoidant behavior, dysfunctional relationship pattern, stress and/or insomnia is the resulting symptom.
My approach is using a technique called EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, an evidence based, worldwide treatment for trauma. EMDR is effective for a multitude of mental health disorders, PTSD, relationship issues, complicated grief, abuse/neglect/attachment issues and feelings of being "stuck." I have 20 years experience with EMDR.
Please Note: My Tennessee License: 9359 became effective 7/22/24. I can currently treat clients in person or by telehealth on an out-of-network (OON) basis which means I will accept payment up front and provide a Superbill for submission to your insurance company for reimbursement. I will be up to the client to check their OON reimbursement benefits.
