I am Vianne Satterfield, a master's level, licensed professional counselor (LPC) committed to helping adults overcome adversity and trauma of many kinds. I am passionate about trauma-informed approaches to therapy and am working towards becoming certified as an EMDR therapist. I listen with compassion, attunement and offer hope so you can better understand yourself and discover new ways of relating with yourself and others. I share joy with my sense of humor, at times. I ask questions and give feedback if desired.
Goal setting can be based on the specific symptoms you are experiencing and/or it can be based on the presenting problem of what brings you into therapy. Typically we work towards reducing symptoms, and improving functioning within work, family, and interpersonal realms.
The first session is typically 60 minutes to review the history of what brought you into therapy. I work towards beginning to establish a therapeutic relationship where you can see me as trustworthy and I like to demonstrate one or two coping skills to help reduce symptoms.
