Many clients seek therapy because they suffer from depression/anxiety that may be a product of low self-concept or feeling overwhelmed by life. They need to stop the negative thought patterns, end dependency on others to make them feel better, and using negative coping mechanisms as a means of temporary happiness. Negative coping mechanisms include addiction (substance use, shopping, sex, etc.). Their utmost goal may involve stopping those reactive behaviors that have ruined relationships, legal issues, suicidal thoughts, and a loss of self. They just want to interrupt the cycle of not being able to trust themselves.
I offer a safe space that welcomes the verbalization of the deepest and most sacred thoughts. Most people want to just to tell their story. My focus is always on the individual and through a partnership, we will create coping skills that reframes negative thoughts in order to limit emotional and behavior reactivity through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
