I'm an adjunct clinical instructor at Stanford University and provide therapy with adults in my private practice. I help clients become "unstuck" from painful thoughts, feelings, and behavioral patterns. Examples include feelings of low self-worth, difficulty feeling connected to others, intrusive or "looping" thoughts, trouble managing anxiety and worry, or difficulty moving forward from a traumatic event or period of life. I help clients cultivate understanding and clarity, address problematic thinking patterns, make changes where necessary, and develop acceptance and adaptation when needed.
I have expertise in research-based treatment approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and trauma-focused therapies, among others. I also have advanced training through the Stanford Neurodiversity Project in adapting therapy for individuals with high-functioning autism (formerly known as Asperger's).
I see clients in-person and via secure video. For more information, please visit my website at drvaleriehoover.com.
