I use DBT, EMDR, and mindfulness to facilitate change while helping individuals discover and utilize their unique strengths in their personal journey towards growth and healing.
In seasons of crisis, loss, and struggle, counseling can be a space to reflect on the past and recover for the journey ahead. My goal as a clinician is to partner with individuals and families as they heal from past hurts, manage current stressors, and refine their strengths on their path to restoring hope and finding healing.

To assist with change, I utilize evidence-based treatments like CBT, DBT, CPT, TF-CBT, and mindfulness.
Sometimes, we get stuck in our lives and need assistance. These moments could be because of depression, anxiety, trauma, interpersonal conflicts, or behavioral difficulties. To help work through these moments, we may need a safe space to be open and honest with ourselves to help us gain the tools to change. I help you feel safe so we can actively work toward changing and resolving the concerns that brought you to therapy.

I have training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Grief Counseling, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy.
Since the Covid-19 pandemic, life as we know it, has changed. For some, these changes have been much larger and much more traumatic than others. Depression, anxiety, self-harming behaviors, and suicide attempts are just a few of mental health concerns that are on the rise in our country. Feelings of isolation, loneliness, and fear in children and adults have become unfortunate byproducts of the pandemic. At times we may feel powerless or even hopeless. Engaging in therapy can give one the tools and skills needed to navigate this unprecedented time and help manage life’s stressors in a healthy, safe, and proactive manner.

I utilize the creative process with my training in evidence-based approaches including CBT, DBT, RO DBT, and CPT.
Our invisible wounds sometimes lead us feeling overwhelmed, confused, stuck, or helpless preventing us from living the life we want to live. If you have ever felt invisible and like no one understands what you are feeling and experiencing, I am here to listen and tell you that your experiences are real and they are valid. I will work with you to create a safe, supportive, nonjudgmental, and empathetic environment to help heal your invisible wounds, make sense of your past, live in the present, and empower you to create a life worth living.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
