My specialties include working with individuals who have been diagnosed with severe mental illnesses. Specifically, those who have been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Most of my background features individual therapy. My motive is to encourage, motivate and support those who are seeking change and personal growth.

I have been counseling individuals, children, families, and couples for 25 years. I have experience treating depression, PTSD, anxiety, adolescent behavioral problems, domestic violence, sexual abuse, anger management issues. My clients regard me as someone who has not only helped them navigate through some of life's most difficult challenges but someone who advocates strongly for them and cares about them. Helping people improve their lives is my mission and my passion in life.

My experiences with providing mental health services run the gamut of a variety of populations, age brackets, and situations, across multiple settings. My philosophy is simple. I want to help, however, whenever. My approach is eclectic, and tailored to what you need, with an emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Person-centered, Acceptance and Commitment, and Mindfulness. We can build a plan and tackle each challenge one at a time or as they come. What you need to know is that I treat every single client based on what they need. I will not treat you like a "textbook case". Each client is different.

“Normal is just a setting on the dryer” is one of my favorite quotes. Each person is unique and therefore, therapy should not feel like a “one size fits all” solution. My goal is to treat each person in a way that embraces who they are and what they need. My belief is that when a person is truly heard and valued; that they are then able to attain their goals. I have worked with children, adolescents and adults with varying backgrounds and experiences since 2009.

I love what I do as much as I did when I entered the field more than 15 years ago. My goal is to engage, educate, encourage, and empower those I work with. I am creative in how I do this so that I can connect with each of my clients. I don't simply hear what my clients say. Instead, I strive to understand how they think, what they are feeling, and how they view relationships and the world in general. It is my belief that only once these points are understood that I can extend meaningful support that can illicit changes the client seeks.

I am here to help someone who wants help and wants to get better. These two goals are necessary to make the therapeutic relationship worthwhile. I'm not just here to help those who have been diagnosed with something like depression or anxiety or bipolar disorder. I have been privileged to also work with clients who have negative experiences as African Americans, negative experiences as women, negative experiences as part of the LGBTQ+ community, or negative experiences connected to exploring alternative spiritualities. My passion is working to help children and their families who are struggling with conflict, emotional/ behavioral problems, and trauma. It is my pleasure to help my clients learn about themselves and discover their own personal and family strengths through engaging and interactive therapy. I use a variety of tools in session, including play/ drama, music, art, and sand tray to help individuals express themselves. Being a child, teenager, or caregiver is hard!
