I have been privileged to a job I love and where I can use the resources I have gained. I have the tools to provide a safe place for children to explore and learn about their emotions using their language of play. In my office your child can begin to learn healthy coping skills for managing their feelings and positive communication skills. I will work with parents to provide the support, encouragement, and resources needed during this challenging time. We all deserve a safe place to learn about ourselves and have the opportunity to grow in a positive direction. As a parent this can be the first step. We can achieve this together.

Hello! I am glad you are here with me. I am a compassionate and warm Art Therapist who utilizes art processes and materials to suit you in further exploring experiences, thoughts, and feelings. Utilizing art processes allows for an alternative way of healing and processing than traditional talk therapy, regardless of prior art-making experience. I believe an important part of doing therapy with others is being present - holding space for people without expressing biases, which is an important part of feeling seen and understood.

Other areas of focus include trauma, utilizing a person-centered approach, DBT, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and art therapy.
I am a Resident in Counseling and believe we should live a life of purpose ON purpose. Everything we do should be intentional so that we are intentionally attracting and manifesting our purpose. I see and "problems" as challenges and opportunities to intentionally challenge ourselves to be purposeful in our everyday lives; with our decisions and how we choose to interact with others. We are always challenged and when you take the step to seek help, you are intentionally seeking out your higher purpose.

As both a counselor and an art therapist, I utilize an eclectic approach to therapy by using traditional "talk therapy" as well as image-making, creative processes, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral approaches and techniques.
Everyone reaches a point in their lives where they are presented with unique challenges and obstacles to face and overcome. These challenges may have been present since childhood, the result of trauma or an unplanned life-altering event. These events can cause anxiety, depression, difficulties in performance of school, work or career, relationships, and overall quality of life.

Art Therapy

How does art therapy work?

The process of making art allows people to express themselves. Art-making can take many forms, such as painting, collage, or sculpting. The therapist asks questions that the work elicits, such as how the person felt while creating their piece, or if any memories surfaced that they can discuss. The therapist will then work with the patient to process their experience, understand themselves better, and work toward change.

Does art therapy help with trauma?

Art therapy can be a valuable treatment option for those suffering from trauma. Traumatic experiences such as combat, rape, or childhood abuse can be so painful that articulating them can be too scary or painful; creating art allows people to express themselves without words, and tell their story in a different way. The physical nature of creating art can also help people feel rooted in the body, which may benefit those who feel disconnected from their body in the aftermath of trauma.

How long does art therapy last?

The duration of art therapy varies, but a common length for treatment is 10 to 15 weekly sessions. Some people may see improvement in just a few weeks, while others may choose to remain in therapy longer term. Patients should periodically discuss their goals with their therapist to make sure the two are aligned on process and progress.

What are the limitations of art therapy?

Art therapy is helpful for many people, but a limitation is that it doesn’t have as robust an evidence base as other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. The evidence on art therapy is mixed; some research demonstrates its benefits, while other research suggests that it has little impact on patients.
