Life can be overwhelming and difficult because of fear, depression, stress or a host of other problems. Studying oneself utilizing a process where a trained therapist is involved, can be profitable to the point of changing things permanently. Happiness certainly has to be one of life's biggest concerns. This is readily found when a person feels whole within themselves and at peace. Being a calmer, at-ease person is quite possible when certain issues are put to rest.

We value holistic connection and healing (emotional, relational, physical, mental, spiritual) and intentionally treat the whole person, couple, or family.
Accepting new clients - The Center for Connection, Healing & Change focuses on the creation of secure, close, and satisfying relationships- within us and between us. We choose to specialize in relationships because we know the importance of satisfying connections for our mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Services explore the relationship we have with both ourselves and others; how well we can live with emotional ease, know who we are, ask for what we need, be responsive to loved ones, set boundaries, deal with loss, move through stressful experiences, find our purpose, and access resilience in moments of need.

As an art therapist I come to the field with over 30 years of experience as an artist and family guide.
Who will thrive at Youngblood Art Studio (YAS)? Those who have an interest in navigating life's challenges through their own creativity. Client's who have not found a home in traditional therapy settings may benefit from a more experiential option; The client who may have resisted therapy, but who finds themselves struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma; the client who feels a creative bud and wants to nurture that part of themselves; the client looking for a nurturing safe space to explore themselves without criticism; the client who wants to make changes, but has struggled to do so.

I have specialties in Attachment (a science of relationships), contemplative living, and in Internal Family Systems.
My approach is gentle, and heartful. It is also good science, grounded in trainings devoted to strengthening the bonds with oneself, others, and the earth around us. What initially may seem stuck or unbearable is introduced to a source of health that is already within you. The opportunity in crisis, and the wisdom within torments, is something you will begin to notice. This noticing begins the discovery that we can, each of us, even within the most strained relationships, bring ourselves to an authentic, courageous stance. And ultimately toward an ever-deepening Love. Your experience of this forms the heart of what I offer.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
