In each of us there is a drive to move towards wholeness. Sometimes we require assistance to unblock that which slows our movement towards balance. Engaging in therapy is a sign of resilience in the face of personal struggles. Courage is walking through your fears to make a difference. By engaging in a strong and empathetic relationship, we will work to uncover the motivations and thoughts that are preventing you from living your life to the fullest. I educate my clients to utilize innovative strategies that capture the extraordinary power that comes from within to facilitate the changes you seek.

Our goal is to reduce anxiety and disconnection from the world while improving your mood, motivation, and self-esteem.
Glad you're here! I specialize in helping adults work through anxiety, depression, and OCD that is so often intertwined with low self-esteem, people pleasing, hypersensitivity and perfectionism. Or it's the opposite - you've been able to power through life by setting emotions aside and cracks are starting to show, or a life transition is throwing you off. Using a warm, affirming, and structured approach, I will guide you through making sense of the storm while looking at the sky view, including your past experiences and the ways you have coped.

I support teens, adults, individuals, partners, and families who are dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, mood disorders, and communication challenges.
Let’s be honest. It can feel like life is working overtime to break us down! Sometimes, all we see is the pain. Sometimes, we stress about stress before there’s actually any stress to stress about! Sometimes, it feels endless and defeating… AND…it doesn’t have to be that way. You can learn how to recognize your needs, work toward fulfilling those needs, and find genuine joy in your life. Together, we will face your struggles and practice strategies that encourage personal growth and empowerment. Remember, “You’ll never find a rainbow if you’re looking down.” Let’s get you looking up and forward!

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
