You are always enough regardless. Just show up as you are; it is okay and welcomed. This is a place of gentleness, empathy, compassion, and authenticity. We are here to both figuratively and literally walk alongside you in your therapy journey either as an individual, couple, or family. Here it is not about what is wrong with you; it is about what has happened to you OR about the negative cycle that you have been stuck in. We make sense of it together. Mutually, we make sense of the brokenness, the pain, the relational distress. All behavior has context and fractures in relationships can be healed.

It is with deep intention that we strive to live quality lives with profound connections to ourselves & others. When we find ourselves sinking it can be an overwhelming task to make moves in order to shift us to make an empowering transformation. Whether it is trauma from abuse, infidelity, or addiction therapy can be a place of renewal. I focus mainly on couples and family systems in order to achieve healing & restoration. The beauty in life is that the quality of our being can always improve and therapy can bring a fresh perspective & shed light on something that seems anchored in darkness.

I am an African American woman, with Caribbean roots, dedicated to guiding individuals, adult families, and couples through complex emotions and challenges.
Finding a therapist can be daunting, but finding the right one makes this journey worthwhile. You're probably here because you're tired of the way things are in your life right now. You've tried almost everything, but your situation hasn't changed or has even gotten worse. You want to see a change in how you navigate relationships (including the one with yourself), but you don't know how to achieve it. My expertise includes working with clients who have had experiences with anxiety, communication issues, depression, rebuilding trust after betrayal, self-esteem, infidelity, a mid-life crisis, or divorce/separation.

Passion and empathy combine to allow me to help many incredible people affirm their strengths and overcome obstacles. Developing a genuine rapport with the clients served is also essential to their success. A firm believer that we are all capable of amazing feats, I feel strongly that, at times, we just need help to gain clarity. Along with educational and practical experience, the realization that each client has an individual perspective and distinct set of circumstances enables the facilitation of many concerns ranging from everyday life stressors, to depression, anxiety, and many other mental health and behavioral concerns.

Noting on my own life I have come to terms with the fact that all individuals are unique in their experiences, how they perceive these experiences, and to their reactions and responses to these experiences. Recognizing worldviews are intricately individualistic, I feel that counseling should be just as unique and aligned to the individual client and their specific needs. I actively seek to meet my clients where they are and through collaboration provide assistance and guidance that aligns to their values, beliefs, and personal functioning with realistic goals that focus on the clients idea of what the best version of themselves is.

Seeking out treatment is a crucial step towards achieving your desired state of well-being. Therapy is a tool that enables growth by allowing and/or enhancing self-awareness and making positive/desired changes. Therapists are not one-size-fits-all, so it is crucial to find the right therapist for you. I am currently a Resident in Counseling and working towards licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia. My approach to therapy is eclectic, using evidence-based techniques that have been proven effective and adapting my approach to each client's unique needs and treatment goals.

You’re torn, reliving the painful experience over and over in your mind. Your body betrays you. Your emotions run out of control. Anger and sadness give you whiplash – they come on so fast. The incident is ever-present in your mind. Your life hasn’t been the same since. It’s a constant struggle to get out of bed most days. Every day is full of triggers that can send you running to the bathroom to cry. A loud noise, a stranger’s voice, there’s nowhere to hide. You’re beginning to lose hope. You don’t understand why you’re not over it already. It feels like you’ll never climb out of this hole. You’ve suffered in silence long enough.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
