Come on and lets chat a while...Life tends to weigh us down with the daily demands of living and providing for not only ourselves but also others who depend on us as well. When we are used to being the one who has the answers and the ability to help everyone else, its hard to accept that we need someone in our corner as well. There is no shame in having someone to talk to and have assist you through situations that bog us down. During my time clinician, I have learned how to assist others through various trial, identify triggers and barriers that prevent them from overcoming the obstacles in front of them. Call me to chat a while!

My true passion is working with individuals whom are in need of hope, encouragement, and support to address difficult situations in their life. I strive to see people as individuals and to recognize their unique qualities and talents. I believe that everyone has the capacity for change and my role in this process is to walk with the individual throughout this challenging process. Human beings are creatures of habit, therefore change is difficult for anyone. If you feel alone or defeated then change is that much more challenging.

Hello, I am a Master's level intern who is working towards completing clinical hours needed towards my Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Therapy can be an intimidating thought, especially if you do not know what to expect about the person sitting across from you. As your therapist, I will strive to create a comfortable, inviting, and safe environment so that we can build that therapeutic relationship which I believe has to be present in order for therapy to be beneficial for you.

Adolescent and youth issues are huge topics in today's society.
Clients come to me in trying times for help dealing with issues like depression, grief, anger and marriage issues. I don't see myself as the "expert" who is going to provide all the "answers" but I do promise to walk with my clients as they address the issues we identify together that they want to in therapy. I am comfortable working one on one, or with couples and families from age 6 to adults. I'm also a Pastor and a Chaplain so I have been theologically trained and can explore spiritual issues and crises as a pastoral counselor.

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
