One area of specialization is working with individuals who have experienced violence and trauma.
Mental health stigma is often a guiding force that prevents individuals from seeking help. As a West African, native from Benin Republic, I recognize that I have a significant role in decreasing this stigma by creating safe and brave spaces for every client that I meet. I am passionate about working with individuals, couples, and families to help them unveil their unique, vital selves in relation to others and the world.

I have specialized training in working with trauma, substance abuse, chronic pain and anxiety.
Now accepting new Aetna clients! Being a human can be really hard sometimes. Maybe it’s hard because there’s an area in our lives where we struggle, like in our careers or relationships. Perhaps, we’ve experienced some painful times that we haven’t fully healed from or find ourselves engaging in problematic behaviors. Whatever our struggles, I’ve found that psychotherapy can help reduce our suffering and help connect us to the joy of being alive.

I'm passionate about walking alongside those facing unique personal battles. Without help, it may seem crippling to endure these challenges. I've worked with students, adults, military, first responders, LGBTQ+, families and individuals confronted by anxiety, depression, obsessive behaviors, trauma, PTSD, abuse and more. I have been honored to work with diverse populations, including first responders and military. Additionally, throughout the COVID pandemic adolescent distress has escalated; consequently, I am devoted to offer safe clinical support that encourages self-discovery while recognizing personal value.

Along with my License in Counseling (LPC) I hold a License in Substance Abuse Treatment (LSATP).
On any given day, if we don’t feel well, we usually don’t hesitate to get in touch with our doctor – but for some reason if we are not emotionally at our best, we tend to resist taking care of ourselves. I believe that mental health is part of our overall well-being, and that who you are and where you are right now is a culmination of your own unique history and experiences. Whatever that looks like, I would love to walk that path with you. I believe that it is an honor and a privilege to be invited into the exciting process of exploring the meaning of our feelings and why we make some of the choices we do.

By rediscovering our strength, it can give us the fortitude that is necessary to overcome substance abuse, self-harm, grief, depression, anxiety, relationship problems, past traumas and abuse.
Throughout life, we can experience many unexpected situations and circumstances that shape how we view the world and the people around us. At times, it can feel like "life has dealt us a bad hand" from the various disappointments, traumas, family conflicts, and relationship issues that we've experienced. Together, through a collaborative effort, we can embark upon a therapeutic journey of self-discovery, self-awareness, and internal healing that can help us find meaning and purpose from the chaotic and painful circumstances.

We are all on a path toward self-discovery, searching for our unique, personal destiny and life purpose. When we fall short of realizing happiness and peace within the American dream, we begin to lose hope and become anxious or depressed. As such, I offer therapy based on my mission statement: Changing Your Life By Engaging Your Soul! Human beings are so much more than a mere mind and body. Somehow our spirit, our soul, has lost its place in our society and in our psychology. I seek to reintroduce deeper meaning to everyday living by invigorating your spiritual energy.

Domestic Abuse Therapists

What are the most effective ways to recover from domestic abuse?

Leaving an abusive relationship requires tremendous courage, so survivors in treatment should recognize that they have already completed the most important step. Still, the trauma of physical or emotional abuse can be difficult to process and overcome. Therapy can help survivors process trauma, grief, and difficult emotions, treat relevant mental health symptoms, and create a new framework for boundaries and relationships in the future. For some, support groups can also be an invaluable outlet for healing.

When should an individual seek help for domestic abuse?

Victims of intimate partner violence should seek help immediately. It can take substantial time, planning, energy, and courage to leave an abusive relationship, but starting the process—by seeking therapy, calling the domestic violence hotline, or simply confiding in a loved one—will help them get there. Those who have left abusive relationships but haven’t sought treatment can also greatly benefit from therapy to process and heal from the experience.

What are the consequences of staying in an abusive relationship?

Remaining in an abusive relationship has serious repercussions. In addition to the ongoing threat of physical danger and emotional abuse, research shows that intimate partner violence is associated with a range of mental health disorders including depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and substance abuse. Therefore it’s important for individuals in an abusive relationship to seek help as soon as possible.

How can you get domestic abuse treatment for someone else?

It can be very complicated to identify and leave an abusive relationship; barriers include the threat of violence, financial instability, and family pressures. Those concerned about a loved one in an abusive relationship should talk to them about the situation, provide them with resources such as the domestic violence hotline, and introduce the idea of seeing a therapist due to their concern for the person’s safety and well-being.
