Stephanie's 10 years in the mental health field has given her the opportunity to serve and counsel individuals, couples, and families working through depression, anxiety, marital stress, trauma, family strain, self harm, and suicidal ideation. She has worked on hospital psychiatric units and outpatient offices. She is trained as a facilitator in the premarital/marital assessment tools and education from SYMBIS, PREPARE/ENRICH, and Level I Gottman Training. She is trained in EMDR and uses it with clients working through trauma. Stephanie is also an AAMFT supervisor candidate who supervises students and residents.

Welcome! My name is Leah Horton and I'm an LPC in Virginia. I began my journey in the counseling world working as a licensed K-12 school counselor and later transitioned into doing clinical work in an outpatient setting and at a collegiate counseling center. I have experience working with children, adolescents, families, and young adults. My personal motto for counseling is "one life touching another". I have a passion for helping people explore and better understand their feelings and experiences in order to assist them in navigating through the difficulties of life within the safety of the therapeutic relationship.

The goal of every client who comes to treatment is to resolve the existing crisis or trauma, manage anxiety, reduce depressive and other symptoms, and return to a state of being that better reflects their optimal functioning. Living with grief, loss, anxiety, PTSD, psych ache, relationship distress, trauma (including racial trauma), rejection, and mood disorders takes a toll, not only on everyday functioning but also on self-esteem, self-efficacy and self-care.

I offer individual therapy for adults and adolescents, with a primary focus and expertise on those that are currently struggling with anxiety, addiction, depression, grief, and trauma.
