Loss can disorient, disorganize, and disrupt our identity, place in the world, and sense of security. Grieving a loss (passing of a loved one, a relationship ending, or change in life circumstances such as career, health, orlocation) is a sacred process of honoring the very important role, needs, and purpose the person or important thing offered you. Grief represents a fundamental dilemma, how to love and live with an open heart and survive the inevitable endings, transitions, and losses that life brings.

Hello, my name is Alicia Murello. Since 2009, I have worked extensively with children, adolescents, adults, and families in therapeutic programs across various settings such as hospitals, schools, residential and day treatment programs, as well as mental health facilities. I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Human Services at the University of Minnesota, followed by a Master of Social Work from George Mason University. My passion lies in assisting individuals and families on their journey to connect and heal as a cohesive unit.

I work as a clinical and forensic psychologist in Virginia. As founding director of Child Custody Clinic, PLLC, I provide services to families facing custody litigation. It is my privilege to manage a team of clinicians who provide individual and family therapy, parent coordination, and trauma-informed interventions. As a mid-career psychologist, I also welcome the chance to provide psychotherapy to human service professionals struggling with compassion fatigue.

Doreen earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Cornell University and her Masters of Science degree in Mental Health Counseling from Divine Mercy University. She is a National Certified counselor and a member of American Counseling Association (ACA) as a pre-licensed professional counselor. Doreen has a broad experience handling a wide spectrum of neurological and psychological conditions. She treats children, teens, adults, and couples presenting with anxiety, depression, adoption, ADHD, trauma, and behavioral and relationship issues. Additionally, she works with adults with memory/dementia challenges and their families.

As a Certified Coach, there is nothing more satisfying to me than to see a student's self-esteem rise as he or she develops skills to overcome tremendous obstacles such as difficulty focusing, procrastination, disorganization, or the inability to set priorities. I am especially proud of my students who, as their confidence grew, became comfortable being their own advocate -- and the pride they felt at achieving such a major accomplishment!
