OCD is a heavy burden. And it feels even heavier when nothing seems to help, including therapy. Maybe you feel that OCD is just something you have to tolerate for the rest of your life. I don’t believe that “coping” is your only option. I believe OCD is treatable. And I believe you can make deep-seated and long-lasting change. Together, we’ll look beyond your diagnosis and subtype, and understand the beliefs that maintain the OCD in your life. This can be daunting, but I’ll be there with you every step of the way offering guidance and support.

Dr. Nowell believes therapy should be an empathetic, flexible process designed to meet the needs of the client. Therefore, she tends to focus on relationship issues, family dynamics, and coping mechanisms while attempting to reveal the personal strengths that lead to successful life engagement. Concerned with immediate relief but also focused on deeper change, Dr. Nowell works in short and long term interventions in order to increase functional capacities and address personality dynamics. Most recently, Dr. Nowell takes a trauma informed approach. At times, she uses EMDR and Ego State therapy techniques.

Two of the most important things in life are to feel understood and have a sense of belonging. However, when we experience challenges in our lives, it’s difficult to feel this way. My role as a bilingual therapist is to provide support and hold a safe space for you while discovering ways to cope with these challenges and develop skills to promote awareness, growth and healing in your life. During my career in the human services field for over 18 years, my passion has been to assist individuals and families cope with depression, anxiety, stress, mood challenges, acculturation and adjustment as a result of migration, and trauma.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Working with over 16 years of experience with adults 18 years of age and older who struggle with Depression, Anxiety, and extreme life-changing events. My experience tells me that there is not a ""cookie-cutter" approach to therapy and every individual/couple is equally as unique as they are similar. That is why I have an eclectic approach to therapy, utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy from a strengths-based perspective, always considering the person(s) in their environment.

So many of us struggle with feeling out of place in this world. We yearn to connect and engage more fully with life, but feel "out of touch." My hope is to help clients experience healing through recognizing their authentic selves. I believe in increasing understanding of our inner worlds / experiences to feel more peace in day-to-day life. I work with adults, young adults, and teens who live with depression, low self-esteem, anxiety, existential depression, identity issues, high sensitivity, and complex trauma (C-PTSD).

In life, we are constantly faced with trials and obstacles that can cause us to worry about our futures and what they hold for us. This often leads to spending much of our time and energy fixated on things that are out of our control, which causes more suffering than is needed. I have found that helping my patients to accept what they cannot control and focus their efforts on what they can control to be an effective way of creating a life worth living, regardless of whether they are facing problems like anxiety, depression, trauma, or eating disorders.

Welcome. The most common areas I treat in my practice include eating disorders, OCD, self-injurious behaviors, self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. I enjoying working with clients of all ages. The decision to meet with a counselor can sometimes be difficult. My first goal is to offer a supportive and accepting environment where growth and healing can occur. I believe that self-acceptance is the first step toward growth and change. Life can be full of struggles and difficulties. I find that my clients are truly doing the best that they can under their circumstances, but are often stuck in maladaptive ways of coping.

You deserve to live a life without things that hold you back, pull you down, or leave you in the dark. Whether this is an eating disorder that has stopped you from enjoying life or made you see yourself differently than how others see you, anxiety that has caused you to feel you cannot take a chance, or depression that has made you feel as though there is no way to cope, I want to work with you to help you find and understand your true self. Therapy is identifying what needs to change, taking those steps, and working to meet your goals. This journey can be challenging, however, you will find in the end it is very fulfilling.

Our emotions can feel overwhelming and difficult to work through sometimes. Many people find it challenging to sit with these emotions and understand them. If this sounds familiar, I may be a good fit for you. Together, we can explore harmful thought patterns, challenge negative beliefs & self-talk, and learn effective techniques to manage emotional dysregulation. I can help you learn how to set healthy boundaries, build coping skills, and have a better understanding of the way our brains process adverse experiences.

Hello, I am thrilled you are “visiting with me” today. It is an understatement to say, “I love being a therapist.” It took ten years of education to earn the privilege of sitting before my clients. Being a therapist is my life's work and my passion. I am very aware of my great responsibility as a therapist for my clients. Over the years, I am always awed and inspired by the resilience of those who have shared their story with me. My path to becoming a therapist many years ago fulfills me every day. I can't describe with words the feeling of pride that I feel when it's the last day of a successful treatment, ending with my client(s).

I believe that it is a privilege to work with people who are in distress. Attentive listening, empathic response, and sound feedback can help individuals of all ages get through difficult life events, often becoming stronger through the process. Lives in transition, despite pain and disruption, can be lives that are transforming to become sounder, more flexible, and less bound by former roadblocks and repetitive missteps. I strive to understand my clients in the context of all that is going on in their lives, not defined by diagnostic category only.
