I've been helping people navigate challenges since 2010. Life is complicated, messy, and difficult to manage. It will always be that way. I don't make any promise of that going away; I would be lying if I did. What I do is help you navigate that messiness with clarity. My journey began at Liberty University, where I earned a bachelor's degree in history. History taught me the importance of in-depth background knowledge. I continued my education at Virginia Commonwealth University, earning a master's degree in rehabilitation counseling. I'm have a Ph.D. in Counseling Education and Supervision from Walden University.

My philosophy centers around the belief that underlying personal issues often contribute to the challenges that bring individuals to seek counseling. Recognizing this, I work closely with individuals to address not only conflicts within partnerships and parent-child relationships but also other areas of concern such as job stress, employment struggles, and unresolved childhood issues.

Habari & Karibu (Hello & Welcome in Swahili). In addition to working with individuals of various ages, I am also very passionate about working with young adults. These early years of adulthood can be a time of tremendous change, uncertainty, and anxiety. The foundation of my clinical practice is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with a strength based approach. I also use a systems approach as we are often navigating life through a maze of different systems, which may include family, friends, school, jobs, organizations, and more. Despite a long career that began in 1995, I remain incredibly motivated about the work I do.

I understand that we are all unique and experience life’s challenges in our own unique ways. I also believe the quality of your life is only as good as the quality of your relationships AND the quality of your relationships is only as good as the quality of your life. It’s important to foster good and meaningful communications with the people that share space in our lives. I meet people where they are, without judgement. I encourage folks to always ask themselves, “have I done my best today”? If the answer is yes – be grateful for that experience. If the answer is no, strive for a better tomorrow, just keep moving forward.

Most of us seek therapy in search of happiness; we know it exists, but we can't seem to get there. I provide honest, straightforward feedback because your time is valuable. I specialize in helping people heal trauma, gain insight, strengthen self-awareness, correct problem patterns, and develop personal agency. As a licensed marriage and family therapist since 1995, I know the importance of healthy relationships with ourselves and others. Working with people is my passion.
