Do you feel like life is overwhelming or that parenting is an endless struggle? Whether you’re a child, teen, parent, or college student, life’s challenges can feel like too much to handle. You might feel stuck—like no one is really listening, and nothing seems to help. But here’s the truth: You won’t be stuck forever, and I’m here to help guide you through it. Parenting, in particular, can feel like an ongoing battle. Between behavioral challenges, the uncertainty of handling your child’s defiance, or academic struggles, it’s easy to feel lost.

I also offer parent sessions to aid in connecting therapy concepts to home.
Now accepting new clients. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), I work predominantly with children, adolescents, and those transitioning into early adulthood. The challenges we face today are significant, and I strive to make the therapy office a safe place to learn to navigate these challenges. I frequently work under a strength-based approach to enhance abilities and recourses already possessed. In addition, I utilize Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to increase tools such as: coping and communication skills, and behavior and mood regulation skills.

I have spent much of my life driving the success of mental health initiatives from the systems and counseling level. This involved tackling issues through policy development and direct counseling initiatives. As a psychotherapist, I bring my wealth of experience to the outpatient setting, facilitating others to become their best selves through kindness and strategic supports. I practice from the belief that we can all live meaningful, fulfilling lives if we have genuine, knowledgeable supports cheering us forward.

Our work will provide the opportunity to explore other areas of your life in which you would like to focus: parenting, addiction, attachment wounds, or discovering a new path, all are relevant in helping you operate from a state of self-understanding.
Throughout our lives, we endure and overcome many obstacles. Each one provides growth opportunities, yet some leave us feeling broken, trying to put the pieces back together. Trauma has a profound effect on our internal system, impacting how we view and interact with the world. It may manifest in relational struggles, addiction, avoidant/risky behaviors, and various forms of self-sabotage, all hijacking our ability to live a self-actualized life. No matter the root of your trauma – developmental, single/multiple event trauma, or a mixture of all, healing is possible.

When individuals, couples, or families reach out to get help in order to face life's challenges, or to find meaning in their lives--I know that the healing journey has begun. I respect and admire the courage that it takes to make that first call and to admit to another human being that one is hurting and needs help. Or, maybe, to admit that one just needs to get another perspective on a difficult problem. As a therapist, I am committed to all who embark on the therapeutic journey of healing.

Parenting Therapists

What does therapy for parenting look like?

Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?

When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?

Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?

Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
