I am 7 years into my private practice working with adults, teens and kids, and I have 13 years experience as an elementary school counselor working with children ages 4-12. The focus of my training and work with clients has included: anger, anxiety, autism spectrum disorder, depression, divorce, emotional difficulties, learning disabilities, foster care, grief/loss, OCD, trauma/abuse and more. My clients can expect a safe space to be reflective, vulnerable, heard and appreciated.

I believe that for every person is unique and treatment solutions should be tailored to meet these individual needs.I stress creating a comfortable-judgement free environment to maximize trust and comfort in the therapeutic relationship. Within the safety of a trusting and respectful therapeutic relationship lies the power to overcome the most seemingly overwhelming obstacles.

I understand that therapy is hard work, time-consuming, and expensive. I want to make sure that you are getting your money's worth and that you are making concrete progress towards your goals. In order to do this, I collaboratively set concrete goals at the outset of treatment and use these goals to track progress with my patients. I work with my patients to identify the function of their problematic behaviors. This helps to reduce shame around the behaviors and encourages acceptance of oneself that unblocks patients and leads to change. I teach my patients value-congruent coping skills to use in place of the problematic behaviors.

I specialize in teletherapy for neurodivergent, queer, and gender diverse people (and am proudly autistic, ADHD, queer, and trans myself). I work with clients both individually and relationally (i.e., as partners, families, etc.). It is my passion to help clients live in a way that feels congruent to them, and to support and be present with one another in the process. As people, I believe that having our authentic selves reflected back to us provides the nourishment, courage, and enthusiasm we need to move forward and feel fulfilled in life.

I specialize in working with adolescents and adults who are dealing with anxiety, loss, grief, depression, and relationship issues. I aim to provide my clients with the opportunity to address distressing life patterns, process heavy emotions, heal from impactful life events, and find more satisfying ways to express themselves and relate to others.

I am an licensed independent clinical social work in the Commonwealth of Virginia. I have worked on inpatient hospitals and outpatient therapy. I believe that therapy is an important part of the journey into wellness and self-actualization. I value authentic and genuine connection with my clients. With over 15 years experience in "Corporate America" before transitioning to a career in therapy, I am equipped to offer personal life experience to my clients in order for them to develop healthier coping skills and work through unresolved issues.

I am committed to helping individuals and their families navigate challenges with relationships, transitions and stress. With a BA in Psychology and a Master’s in Social Work with a Clinical Concentration, I have worked with children, adolescents and adults in non-profit, community-based, and private practice settings. While I believe there is tremendous healing in simply being heard and understood, I also believe that meaningful change is possible when problematic patterns are identified, disrupted and replaced with new effective behaviors that are consistent with one’s goals and values. My approach is compassionate and optimistic.

Being a parent, family member or worker is an everyday challenge. Most of the time, we manage just fine. There are times, though, when life doesn't feel so manageable and we end up stressed and anxious, sluggish or unmotivated or we turn to substances or other diversions to cope. I can help. I work with people in a very practical, down-to-earth way that is goal-oriented and solution focused.

I have twenty-five years of unusually broad experience, having counseled ages four to ninety-nine in inpatient, outpatient, emergency, partial hospitalization and community settings. In that experience I have worked with mothers, families and couples struggling with fertility, pregnancy-related mood issues, neonatal concerns, and grief and loss. I am also trained in Healing Touch and have special interests in mindfulness, guided meditation, sports performance, and integration of music in the practice of therapy. In my spare time, I care for my farm animals and enjoy my two cats.

I have over 14 years of experience in practice, and I have a background working in a variety of mental health settings. I work with children, teenagers, and adults using techniques tailored to the needs of the client. My primary therapy approach involves skills-based Cognitive Behavioral and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I offer Individual Therapy, Group DBT Skills Training, and Parenting Work. I treat issues of mood, anxiety, relationships, personality traits, as well as behavioral and social issues. Our practice also provides IQ testing for independent school admissions and Advanced Academic Program appeals.
