Transform feelings of unworthiness. Disconnection, a sense of not having your own voice, or being invisible and discounted… it all needs to change. It’s been too long and too costly. The expense of not taking action is affecting you emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Whether it is feeling struck in relationships, jobs or with parenting or co-parenting. Perhaps, it is struggling with depression, anxiety, illness, or a major life transition. I can help.

With 20 years of experience as a dedicated therapist, I believe deeply in the healing power of play. In my practice, I create a safe, nurturing environment where children can express themselves, process emotions, and build essential life skills—all through the natural language of play. I recognize how difficult it can be for families to ask for help, and my goal is to walk alongside both children and parents on their journey toward healing and growth. Through trusted relationships, I support children in developing coping skills, navigating life’s challenges, and ultimately finding peace within themselves.

Now accepting new Aetna clients! Being a human can be really hard sometimes. Maybe it’s hard because there’s an area in our lives where we struggle, like in our careers or relationships. Perhaps, we’ve experienced some painful times that we haven’t fully healed from or find ourselves engaging in problematic behaviors. Whatever our struggles, I’ve found that psychotherapy can help reduce our suffering and help connect us to the joy of being alive.

Are you a mother who is feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or just generally searching for your identity? Maybe you just gave birth and you are adjusting to the many changes of your body, family and overall surroundings. As a therapist, I have been awed by the diversity of experiences and strengths of those I have had the privilege to work with. We all go through difficult times in our lives in which we find ourselves stuck and unhappy. There is no shame in reaching out for help. In fact, it is a very courageous thing to do. In my private practice, I work with individuals who may have experienced trauma or feel anxious and depressed but don't know why. I also have extensive experience working in the field of addictions/recovery.

Everyone experiences loss. Seldom do we allow ourselves to fully experience loss or it's impact. When someone dies, we change jobs, or even have a child, there is loss. When we choose to address these losses, past or present, we can begin to heal, and with healing comes unlimited possibility. I work with families/individuals/children and the impact family dynamics have on their lives; adoptees and their families as they deal their losses; bereaved individuals and groups after the death of a loved one; transitional loss and role adjustment included "empty nest"; corporate downsizing; career counseling; and relationship issues.

Welcome to my therapy practice. We can all feel 'stuck' or overwhelmed at times, and our lives can be impacted by negative behavioral patterns, difficulty in relationships, and ongoing struggles with pain and suffering. Therapy is a process where, as partners, we move towards having a deeper understanding of yourself, your feelings and reactions, and your relationships. We will work to improve your ability to cope with challenges, to make progress towards personal goals, and to experience positive changes that allow increased satisfaction with self, life, and relationships. I look forward to starting this process with you!

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
