I have been privileged to a job I love and where I can use the resources I have gained. I have the tools to provide a safe place for children to explore and learn about their emotions using their language of play. In my office your child can begin to learn healthy coping skills for managing their feelings and positive communication skills. I will work with parents to provide the support, encouragement, and resources needed during this challenging time. I have previously worked as an in home therapist, foster care worker, and the majority of my experience has been the past 11 years as an outpatient therapist for a private practice. I have experience working with women, men, children, adolescents, family, and marital therapy.

I obtained my Masters in Counseling from Virginia State University. I have real life experience working with individuals and families hands on in their home, school and community. I believe that when a person has hope and can learn to challenge and replace irrational thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes, people are free to experience change.

My passion is working to help children and their families who are struggling with conflict, emotional/ behavioral problems, and trauma. It is my pleasure to help my clients learn about themselves and discover their own personal and family strengths through engaging and interactive therapy. I use a variety of tools in session, including play/ drama, music, art, and sand tray to help individuals express themselves. Being a child, teenager, or caregiver is hard! I can provide the knowledge and tools to help my clients learn how to overcome life's challenges by channeling their own personal strengths.

Anam Therapy Counseling, Inc is a group practice that was formed as I expanded my business in response to the growing need in our field. Please note, we are a TeleMH practice (online). We have spent the past 26+ years helping clients to lead happier, healthier, and more fulfilling lives. As an EMDR therapist, I specialize in helping individuals to unlock their natural ability to heal. Using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, I facilitate a gentle yet powerful process that it's not about erasing the past, but allowing you to finally reclaim your present and future.

My clinical experiences include working with adolescents and adults in a range of settings, such as inpatient behavioral health units, outpatient private practice, and integrated healthcare clinics such as primary care settings. These experiences allowed me to work with different presenting concerns, such as, but not limited to depression, anxiety, panic attacks, relationship concerns, smoking cessation, and trauma. I specifically collaborate with clients to develop individualized goals unique to their needs.
