Maybe it's overwhelming feelings of anxiety, worry, anger, depression or grief.
As an online counselor, I work with clients with busy schedules, or folks who prefer engaging in therapy from home. Many of my clients feel like they don't fully belong. Maybe you feel like this because of unfulfilling relationships, or societal pressures around who (or how) you are supposed to be. I also work with folks who've experienced something that was so difficult, it's hard to move on from it. Sometimes it seems that the same patterns keep showing up in our lives, and we just need a break. I would like to work with you to change that.

Growth can be such a complicated and overwhelming experience. It can be hard to navigate through these challenges as you explore your ever changing identity, relationships, and environment. Sometimes your feelings can become so big and consuming that you might act out in ways that can be harmful to yourself or others around you. I want you to know that you don’t have to struggle through these big changes and challenges alone.

What would life be like if you could spend more time doing what really matters instead of just making it through the day and surviving? Have you experienced hard things in your past that still affect you today, and you wish that would change? Do you feel that sharp twinge in your chest when you think about just how far away you are from the relationships you want? If you have ever struggled with motivation, meaning, a difficult childhood, or a relationship that has lost its fire and hope, you understand how painful and gray the world can be when life isn't working.

According to Charles Swindoll, “Life is ten percent what happens to you and ninety percent how you respond to it.” This quotation implies that "responding" to life is easy, doesn't it? But the truth is, life can be messy, and navigating its ups and downs can be HARD. Having someone to act as a sounding board, teach us how to stay grounded, and support us in shifting our perspective, can be invaluable. Whether working with individuals or couples, I do my best work with adults who feel stuck in their lives, have decided that enough is enough, and are looking for relief, and fast.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
