I specialize in working with LGBTQ+ individuals, clients who struggle to build meaningful relationships, people navigating spiritual journeys or faith transitions, those facing addiction-related issues, individuals in mixed-orientation marriages, and those who experience OCD, anxiety, and depression.
As a gay man, I validate and support clients’ identities, sexuality, and spiritual beliefs. Raised in the LDS faith, I understand the cultural, familial, social, and spiritual complexities that can arise from growing up in that environment. I focus on helping clients heal from shame-based trauma, improve their relationship skills, and build a life that aligns with their sexuality, gender identity, goals, and values.

You've probably already tried to figure out how to feel better. Sick of being told that you're "too sensitive" or "overreacting," you're exhausted by how emotions and memories reach out and grab you, ripping you from your best efforts at stability. The effects of trauma, including high levels of anxiety, may make you wish you could simply just get rid of your emotions. It doesn't seem to matter how smart you are or how great a problem-solver you are in other areas of your life. The end result is that you're discouraged. I offer a collaborative approach with interventions that work. Come work with me and find hope and change.

It is important to provide a supportive, attuned presence to help my patients work through the struggles, problems, and difficulties that have brought them into treatment. I build a relationship of trust with my patients in order to help them feel the support and care I have for them. I believe that diligent exploration of a patient's negative emotions and problematic relationships leads to healing. Through the use of simple challenges, highlighting of interpersonal and emotional patterns, encouragement, and honest feedback, my objective is to help the patient feel the love and support needed to heal and change.

Currently only accepting clients for extended session/intensive trauma work. I look forward to working with you and helping you conquer your OCD.
I believe a warm and welcoming environment is crucial for therapy. OCD and anxiety disorders can be debilitating. However, evidence shows treatment can be effective. This is a process that involves both you and your therapist. It will take time and effort to get the most from treatment. Most importantly: It is doable. At NOCD, my team and I provide personalized and effective specialized treatment for OCD and related conditions, such as BFRBs (including skin-picking, nail-biting, and hair-pulling). Our understanding of the nuances of these conditions enables us to diagnose and treat them properly.

Whether you're struggling with anxiety, depression or OCD, or to develop healthy sexuality, you don't have to be alone in this journey.
Feeling anxious or depressed is a reasonable response to living in an uncertain world. For many of us, recent years have brought loss and trauma. It may feel like you will never heal. Learning to cope and adapt may feel overwhelming. You want to be your "old self again," but it feels impossible. You may have tried to heal yourself, only to realize you need help. You may hesitate to seek help for fear of being judged. You may feel that you are alone in your struggles, but I want you to know that you are not alone. There is hope.

I have been a Licensed Clinical Psychologist since 2005 and use Cognitive-Behavioral and Solution-Focused treatments to help people navigate struggles with stress, mood, anxiety, family, relationships, and grief. I have specialized training in marriage and relationships, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and OCD. I pride myself on creating a relaxed and comfortable therapeutic environment as I know that this space is many people’s first experience with therapy. I believe in setting goals for growth and change and I love to give “homework”, nothing crazy just something to be thoughtful of or working on until the next session.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
