In my practice I specialize in the treatment of anxiety disorders(general, OCD, social, and panic), as well as trauma.
Are you struggling with anxiety? Do you find yourself having a difficult time coping with everyday life? If so, I get it. Anxiety, and all of its related issues, can be paralyzing. Alot of us also struggle with past experiences that may have left deep wounds and these wounds can contribute to the effects of anxiety. But the good news is that together, we can find paths to wellness. And I love helping people find these paths!

Hi, I'm Cara and I've been practicing mental health since 2010. It wasn't until I gave birth in 2021 that I realized a real need for counselors trained in all things postpartum. Postpartum issues can range from depression and anxiety to Bipolar disorder, grief, OCD, PTSD, and psychosis. They can also be present in someone other than the one who gave birth! Partners, close social supports, adoptive parents, and even birthing professionals can experience these issues. With the right treatment things can get better! If you're experiencing any issues listed above, regardless of parental status I'd love to help.

Are you interested in rapid relief of anxiety, depression, or PTSD symptoms? Then you are at the right place. I am so excited to offer my accelerated version of EMDR (Target 2 Zero) which is 9.5 times faster than the Standard EMDR protocol and reduces symptoms including PTSD by 82-84% (pending publication) in just 2 to 7 hours of treatment. Adverse experiences or the tough stuff of life cause a variety of uncomfortable symptoms including anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. By thinking through the memory of the adverse or bothersome event and doing a few other things simultaneously the memory changes.

Everyone needs a place for space. A space to be heard. A space to share whatever you want. A space to process feelings, try out new perspectives, laugh, cry, grieve, be angry, talk about betrayal, to fight inner demons, to be brave, to be nervous, to simply BE whoever you are. I am a licensed professional counselor with over 20 years of experience providing space for people to process whatever they are dealing with. People come to me with a wide range of different issues. I am an eclectic therapist but tend to focus on using cognitive behavioral therapy. I love to meet new people, and I would love to work with you.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
