Hi there! I'm so happy you are here. Adulting is hard, full of uphill climbs and plot twists. As we take on the many challenges of daily life, moments of true joy can seem elusive. We may find ourselves feeling less content or fulfilled than we imagined. We begin to question past choices and doubt our decisions. We trudge along, hoping things will improve, without really enjoying the now. At all stages of life, we face challenges and transitions that may leave us feeling sad, anxious, exhausted, disillusioned, or isolated. And while this is normal, it can be hard to find a way through on your own. Fortunately, you don't have to.

I have been a practicing psychotherapist in the metropolitan area for the past 25 years. I received my B.A. from the University of Virginia and MSW from Catholic University. Emotional distress, as uncomfortable as it is, represents not only an opportunity to heal, but a chance to grow. It can be a chance to discover how to be effective at reaching one's objectives and achieving fulfillment, whether it be emotional, relational, or professional. My aim is to assist in this process.

Academic burnout: where your motivation is not just on vacation – it's taken an indefinite leave of absence. Maybe you are way past the point of even humor. Are you a student, doctor, lawyer or professor working in academia or the field who is just DONE? I specialize in helping academics, intellectuals, and high-net worth individuals get their spark back. I truly understand how demotivating the systems that you operate in can be, because I have lived them myself, and because I hear stories every day that most people wouldn’t even think about sharing with anybody. Or, maybe something in your personal life is dominating your focus.

Whether this is your first time considering therapy or you've had experience with it in the past, finding a therapist that feels like a good fit is paramount to making progress in therapy. Maybe you've stumbled on this page because you are struggling with depression/anxiety, are experiencing relationship conflict, or perhaps you've been recommended by someone you trust. While neither of us will know if we are a good fit until we've had a chance to meet, I would like to share a little about my work as a therapist.

If you are struggling with life's challenges and are seeking tools to better cope with or overcome those challenges, I want to help you. The foundation of my work is the collaborative and proven tools of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT is a highly effective, scientifically supported approach for anxiety, depression, trauma and other issues and life struggles. I offer a more simplified approach with children - Behavioral Therapy. The behavioral approach employs a range of techniques used to change maladaptive behaviors. The goal is to reinforce desirable behaviors and eliminate unwanted ones.

Most people know that toxic relationships never get better, yet people get stuck in them. Why? Change is difficult. Most people who get out of a toxic relationship on their own, are often surprised to find themselves in another toxic relationship. Like Lisa, she left a toxic relationship. She even did a thorough self-analysis, “what went wrong”, “how did I wind up in such a relationship?" But then what happened? She found herself in an even worse toxic relationship. In her words, “then I got into another relationship. It was, even worse. There was both physical and psychological abuse.”
