As a therapist, I try to provide my client with a calm, nurturing and safe environment. My approach is person-centered and I try to work in collaboration with my client to help them overcome the barriers of life so that they can reach their goals. Often it feels painful and difficult to challenge cognitive distortions, yet I try to assist in a kind fashion to work toward independence and growth.

Many people believe that they are not good enough, not loveable, not worthy of belonging, or broken in some way. These "core beliefs" are often a result of early life trauma, or times when individuals or systems have harmed us. Often, my clients struggle with body image concerns, disordered eating and exercise, chronic dieting, chronic health conditions and medical trauma, and gender/identity concerns- all of which interact with our core beliefs that we are "not enough" or "too much" and tell us that we need to fix ourselves. Does this sound like you? In our work together, I will help you challenge some of those long-held beliefs.

Hello, I am thrilled you are “visiting with me” today. It is an understatement to say, “I love being a therapist.” It took ten years of education to earn the privilege of sitting before my clients. Being a therapist is my life's work and my passion. I am very aware of my great responsibility as a therapist for my clients. Over the years, I am always awed and inspired by the resilience of those who have shared their story with me. My path to becoming a therapist many years ago fulfills me every day. I can't describe with words the feeling of pride that I feel when it's the last day of a successful treatment, ending with my client(s).

Hello! I assume you've come because "life is lifeing". Do you feel overwhelmed with your daily life? Has it become harder to keep 'pushing through'? Maybe you are going through some season changes/life transitions. Or perhaps your past has gotten in the way...thoughts you can't stop thinking? Behaviors which are no longer serving you that you are having a hard time changing...? I want to help you get 'unstuck'. In fact, that's my super power! I believe that new thoughts give way to new behaviors, and new behaviors build new life.

During difficult times, the word “unravel” resonates with most of us. As human beings, at some point, we are bound to experience life stressors, trauma events, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, parenting struggles etc. I am aware there is no single therapeutic approach, and a range of flexibility and modalities is key to guide and assist in finding resolution and balance. My goal is to bring healing to the people who have been through traumatic/stressful experiences and struggling to anchor, reflect and or reset. I believe in meeting clients where they are and in creating a collaborative therapeutic relationship. Spanish

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists
How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.
What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.
Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.
Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
