That's why I tailor my techniques to each individual using an approach that integrates elements of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Invitation to Change, and Motivational Interviewing.
Are you struggling to change your patterns of alcohol or marijuana use, or do you have a loved one who is? I use a harm reduction approach to help clients explore their relationship with substances. We will work together to develop new skills and cultivate motivation to make difficult changes – whether that is practicing moderation, making safer choices, or eliminating substances from your life entirely. I prioritize creating a safe, nurturing, and non-judgmental environment as feeling supported is essential in productive therapy.

Accepting New Clients. No one's path in life is the same and thus therapy, in my eyes, should not be a cookie cutter approach. Therapy should be tough but rewarding. I specialize in meeting clients where they are at and challenging them to move forward in their future. True growth comes from pushing past your comfort zone to come out stronger on the other side.

Hello, my friends, are you feeling a little down, or feeling overwhelmed? Are you a teen or young adult who feels lost or in need of guidance. I have some openings and am looking to fill them. Sorry, I am an ONLINE therapist only, I find once people give it a try they don't mind it. If you want to try it, I offer a free 15 minute trial session. I work well with people who like to talk and find that is a part of their process. Do you find therapy too clinical and would like a little humor? I do my best to find that balance. If you just don't know what you need, I hope you will let me guide you to the right answer.

With every day changing so rapidly and the increase in uncertainty, life presents us with new obstacles and challenges that we might not expect. It takes great strength and courage to ask for help when you need it. I help clients with improving body image, increasing self-esteem, mood disorders, eating disorders, and identity challenges. As a minority myself, I have experience helping clients work through processing cultural barriers and unfair treatment. I am also passionate about working with BIPOC and the South Asian population. I also provide letters for gender affirming care.

Sometimes it feels like our mind won’t shut off. One thought turns into 10, and before we know it we’ve spent more time than we wanted going down the mental rabbit hole. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Anxiety, and Phobias often take up space rent free in our mind making us act or behave a certain way to feel better. This tiring upkeep can make it feel like we're dragging through life, carrying a heavy weight, out of control, or that we're wearing a mask. In moments like these a helping hand is sometimes all we need to regain control over our lives.

My therapeutic approach has a psychodynamic foundation that utilizes behavioral, cognitive, and dialectical techniques.
Have you ever wondered why you are the way you are? Why you think the way you think, feel the way you feel, and do the things you do? I believe that psychotherapy can help anyone answer all of those questions and truly discover who they are and how they can help themselves. Imagine what your life would look like if you could identify how you are feeling in the moment, where it's coming from, and how to work through it effectively. My goal is to help you better understand who you are, help you identify your strengths, and provide you with the tools you need to help you achieve your goals and live the life you want.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists

Who is DBT for?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?

The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?

Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?

Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
