The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are -Carl Yung. Becoming the version of ourselves that is truly free, a version that is unconditionally self-accepting and self-loving, is what I see as the purpose of therapy. Through my own personal healing journey I've realized that the pain that we carry around is our responsibility and we alone hold the keys to free ourselves from our self-imposed prisons. It can be a terrifying process to face the aspects of ourselves that we've avoided but there is nothing more rewarding or worthwhile. I will meet you where you're at to help you free yourself and become who you truly are.

I believe in, and practice from, a relational perspective to address substance use and mental health concerns. I believe in an individualized approach to meeting my clients where they are and addressing the concerns they believe are most relevant, which helps them reach their full potential for happiness and personal growth. I am a cognitive guy who believes that many of the problems we face can be overcome by examining the way our beliefs influence our thoughts, which influence everything else. It often comes down to thinking about how you think.

Do you feel lost, confused, or trapped? Sometimes these stuck places end up feeling lonely and hopeless. Having the ability to experience inner peace and freedom is an essential part of mental wellness.

V Frankl: “Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” My passion is helping disrupt the habitual autopilot of life in order to gain a sense of resiliency, purpose, and vitality. When experiencing burnout, acute/chronic stress, trauma, and/or chronic pain I work with you to restore balance in your life by processing stressors, trauma/triggers, and building in resources to increase resilience in the face of these barriers. This is achieved by working as a team: You are the expert of you and I bring the expertise of psychology.

Behind our behavior lies a need. Sometimes those needs are so disguised by extreme, difficult behaviors and emotions that it’s difficult to see the need. What needs of yours are going unmet and how does that translate into your daily behavior? It is important that each and every one of us have a village/tribe to support us during not only the difficult times but also the joyful moments. Whether you are at the beginning of your journey or somewhere in between, I’d love to coach and assist you in building connections and strengthening the connections you’ve already established.

I'm an experienced child and family therapist ready to assist you in dealing with life challenges that come your way. As a parent and professional, I understand the many struggles attached to this journey through life. I also work with adults in helping to discover a place of healing and happiness. Life is a rollercoaster for everyone, which means adjustments are inevitable, whether it is big or small, good or bad, fortunate or devastating. As an Asian migrant in Utah myself, I understand the struggles when we have to adapt to any sort of significant adjustment or change, especially grief and loss. I strive to provide a safe space for clients to find the inner strength to process and find meaning from the storm. I am a firm believer of genuine connection and empathy as keys towards recovery. As a therapist, I see my role as your teammate to accomplish any goals you have in mind for a better outcome at the end of the tunnel.

Life is puzzling in both its perplexity and in that it resembles one. Where we attempt to find the edge pieces for some kind of outline/guide, discover which pieces fit together, constantly looking at the bigger picture, realizing it’s going to take some time to complete, and having someone join in can be helpful and/or fun. I do so in order to simplify a section of their life puzzle piece as they are attempting to find where it goes and how it fits in the bigger picture. That might include trauma focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, DBT skills, Motivational Interviewing, solution focused therapy, and learned self-compassion.

I believe that within each of us lies a powerful, resilient human spirit that has the capacity to thrive - regardless of one's life circumstances. My clients have a variety of backgrounds but all of them have one thing in common: a desire to be truly happy and healthy. I get to the root of the problem/s; my clients experience thru interactive therapy that produces results. My methods are directive, down to earth, and engaging for both children and adults. We all develop habits that serve us in the moment, only to discover that those same behaviors and narratives are keeping us from getting what we want out of life and relationships.

Focusing on helping you feel safe and understood, while also pushing you to view aspects of life in different ways. We firmly believe that the most growth occurs when you step outside of your comfort zones just enough to discover who you truly are. We believe that life is for laughing, and we do not underestimate the power that humor has in the therapy room. Combining empathy with humor is to create a space where you can tap into your own strengths for change.

How can we move out of darkness and suffering into a rich and meaningful life? Sometimes the right therapeutic space is the first step. Life is inherently heavy - attempting to navigate anxiety, depression, grief, or trauma alone only makes in heavier. I believe we are our strongest powers - through self-compassion, self-awareness, and safe connection - healing is always possible. You are a resilient being - tapping into your resilience is just the first step. I am here to meet you where you're at, walk with you on your journey, and provide skills & resources along the way. I enjoy working with individuals & couples.

Suffering is a universal, human experience, and we try to ameliorate our suffering in the best ways we know how. Despite our best efforts, suffering can remain, and in response, we may fight it harder. We fight because we want to heal and be happy, but it can seem like the more we fight, the more pain we feel. We reach for happiness and healing and it feels like it is always out of reach. I believe that the path to healing, though seemingly counterintuitive, often includes a process of letting go, allowing discomfort, and pouring our energy, time, attention, and resources into meaningful directions.
