I integrate therapeutic interventions using neuroscience, SEP, EFT, Brainspotting, IFS, Psychedelic Integration & EMDR.
SEP Somatic Experiencing Practitioner helping clients who have tried traditional therapy, yet continue to suffer from unresolved normalized & developmental trauma, emotional distress, faith transition, codependency & attachment. I specialize in modernized therapeutic interventions using an integrated approach. I feel it is important to understand how the past impacts the present, allowing the subconscious presence for reprocessing. I believe that it is crucial to help clients learn to pay attention to thoughts, feelings, & physical sensations in the moment building an empowered resiliency needed to move beyond their distress.

I am EMDR trained and use principles from IFS, EFT, CBT, ACT, and attachment theory.
Hello! My name is Andrea Wilson and I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I believe each person has the ability to find answers and healing within themselves and my role as a therapist is to provide support and guidance along the journey. I believe our experiences often shape our behaviors and I love working with teens and adults to help them identify patterns resulting from past trauma and attachment wounds.

As a Certified EFT Trainer, Supervisor and Therapist I am ready to support your healing. Emotionally Focused Therapy is long established as the Gold Standard for relationship repair and is effective with trauma, depression, anxiety, communication and connection concerns. It can be difficult to reach out and find a good therapist that’s a good fit. If you get stuck in the same argument over and over with your partner; if you feel misunderstood; if you want to be heard, appreciated, and feel "in-love" again, or need direction about how to feel better, I can help.

I also use principles from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy ( EFT).
My love for helping lift others has been life-long. I have been involved in community change efforts on many levels, in the realm of policy work and in the non profit sphere. My focus has been to ensure that all voices are heard and all life experiences respected. After over a decade of working on larger-scale social issues, I have shifted my focus to working with the individual to help them discover their worth, their inner strength, and the power of their own voice. My therapy approach is based in a deep belief that we all have what we need inside of us to heal and thrive.

I specialize in couples and am formally trained in the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy, which are both leaders in the field of couples therapy.
Most of us just want to be have a sense of being valued, heard, and cared about, especially from our partners. When this is not the case, distress in the relationship sets in, which can take a toll on one’s emotional, mental, and physical health. Negative interactional cycles lead to conflict and result in attachment injuries, lack of connection, decreased intimacy, mistrust, sexual dysfunction, and a breakdown in the entire family system. Changing a couple's communication patterns, repairing injuries, and placing attention on the friendship leads to emotional connection and increased relational and sexual satisfaction.

Emotionally Focused Therapists

Who is emotionally focused therapy for?

Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?

People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?

Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?

EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
