I like walks in nature with a good cup of coffee, and I am of the Christian faith.
Hello, I'm Dax, and I'm currently accepting new clients. Every time you come in, you can expect to be greeted warmly with unconditional regard, and encouragement. If you're looking for someone to help you challenge yourself, your thoughts, your behaviors, or to process trauma, grief/loss, learn coping skills, etc. I want to provide you with the best care I can based on the collective decades of experience my professors, and supervisor have taught and instilled in me. I understand that therapy can be daunting, but I hope to offer you a safe place and a friendly face to come alongside you to help you figure all this out together.

Every person (including you!) has value and worth. It doesn’t matter who you are, how old you are, what you have done, or what has happened to you. You are valuable, just because you are here. Secondly, know that your life has value and a meaning – even when you are in pain. Many of us at various times of life need a little extra help-whether to process “stuff” that happened, or to figure out why we do what we do – I have a lifetime of experiences and training to help you do just that!

You’re tired of feeling overwhelmed, holding everything together while feeling disconnected. I see you. I help women like you who are ready for deep, transformative change. Using traditional and Indigenous healing practices such as hypnotherapy, EMDR, Ego State Therapy, and breathwork, I help release emotional blocks that keep you stuck. Though my client load is full, I am mentoring Haleigh Left Hand-Hack, an Indigenous therapist from the Chaui Band of the Pawnee Nation. I am deeply involved in her work, and together we offer a unique approach blending modern therapy with Indigenous wisdom.

If you are feeling sad, or lonely, or misunderstood, it can be part of the stress of life, or it can be symptoms of a mental health condition. It is not easy to step up and look for help, but if you want to feel better, confident, positive and respected, you need to make the first step for your recovery. Si te sientes desanimado/a o incomprendido, puede ser parte del estres de la vida cotidiana, or tal vez puede ser un sintoma de un problema emocional. A veces no es facil buscar ayuda, pero recuerda que el primer paso es vital.

I believe that each client knows their lives best, and therapy can be a combined journey between therapist and client. I use a combination of strength-based, Emotionally focused approaches and Dialectical and Cognitive Behavioral focused approaches to best help my clients. By doing this, I believe that you will begin to heal at your own pace and in your own way. Although therapy can be uncomfortable, we can encourage the change and growth to better our lives. I believe we can find appreciation and peace in working together to heal. My goal is for you to have found therapy worth your while.

Have you ever looked at your life and thought, “How did I get here?” Sometimes life feels hard, overwhelming, and chaotic. Maybe you just don’t know where to start or you feel lost. Maybe you’re embarrassed that you can’t handle things on your own or like you don’t know who to ask for help. Perhaps you're going through a rough patch or you're looking to improve your relationships with friends, family, or partner. Or, maybe your child is struggling with anger, sadness, or anxiety.

I use a holistic view and person-centered approach and believe each individual has the ability to find the answers within. I view therapy as a place to explore the different parts of self that contribute to the whole of a person. I love helping others find the places within that feel blocked or stuck and help them address what is needed to help clients move forward with renewed hope. I believe as one begins the healing journey they will become more in tune with mind, body, spirit connection and can tap into their unique strengths to create a life with meaning and happiness.

Christian Therapists

Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?

Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same belief system or background to be able to work effectively together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience in tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of culture, religion, and other factors on each individual.

Why is it important to find a therapist sensitive to Christian values?

Each person brings a unique history and background to therapy, making it important to find a licensed therapist who is trained in a broad range of treatment modalities. In addition, for people who grow up in a faith tradition that strongly influences the way they conduct their everyday life, finding a therapist who understands or shares that background can ease the disclosure of sensitive information and facilitate the therapeutic process. For some clients, a Christian therapist is likely to incorporate faith-based principles into emotional healing techniques.

How do I recognize an effective Christian therapist?

Christian therapists are licensed mental health professionals—holding a master’s or doctoral degree in medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy—who are also familiar with Christian beliefs and values. They have an understanding of the importance that Christian principles play in the lives of individuals and families, which allows them to be especially sensitive to the kinds of struggles that can affect daily functioning. Like all effective therapists, a Christian therapist will have undergone training and certification in a variety of treatment modalities that help people through crises and enable them to master the challenges of life.

Why might someone feel comfortable with a Christian therapist?

While training, qualifications, and experience are always important, research has long established that a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic success. An alliance is likely to be strengthened with a therapist who not only is responsive to questions and concerns but also shares a client’s faith and values. Sensitivity to spiritual matters as well as to everyday struggles can provide a welcome sense of safety and contribute to the bond between client and therapist, both of which support the therapeutic process.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Christian therapists?

The directory of Christian therapists includes professionals who have shared their background in their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Christian clients, regardless of their own background or religious affiliation.
