I specialize in the areas of trauma, abuse/neglect, parenting, divorce/break-ups, LGBTQ+ issues, couple's therapy, family of origin issues, adoption/attachment, depression, anxiety, discrimination, personal growth, family violence, and spirituality among others.
I have been working with individuals, couples, families, and children for over 20 years. I primarily use a collaborative, strength-based approach to individual, family and couples' therapy, play therapy with children, and when working with diverse populations. I believe that the majority of people have an internal desire and wisdom that directs them toward healing and changing for the better. Similar to our bodies, the brain naturally knows how to heal given the right conditions. I believe that my role as a therapist is to help people tap into the resiliency of the human spirit.

I love walking others through trauma recovery, addiction recovery, grief, and above all supporting my clients to improve a relationship with self, others, and the world through a combination of therapeutic modalities.
I have so much compassion for all that we go through in this human experience. Therapy can be supportive when we get stuck in patterns or emotions, when we are seeking more clarity or desire a deeper connection to ourselves and others. I would love to hear your story and what matters to you and help you navigate your experience.

I offer trauma focused therapy, play therapy and CBT.
Does your child need help sorting out the hurts and harms that have come their way? Do you need someone to help guide you in supporting your child but you have no idea where to start? Your child is struggling and you worry if you are making the right choices when it comes to supporting them. They don't seem to be managing their stress well but when you try to talk to them, they shut you out. They start spending more time alone and you worry that they may be involved in unsafe activities. It can be incredibly stressful for parents to help kids and teens sort out their struggles on their own.

Waitlist for new clients
I have specialty training in complex trauma and utilized Accelerated Resolution Therapy.
In a perfect world, we would all be assigned a therapist at birth, just as we are a pediatrician. Mental health is health, after all. Having a therapist to listen, affirm, encourage, and maybe even challenge you is incredibly healing. I don’t believe that clients necessarily ‘need’ therapy, but that they deserve excellent therapy. I have a passion for working with millennials and young adults. My professional experience in wilderness therapy also drives my interest in working with outdoor enthusiasts who have a history of trauma or mental health concerns.

I believe that we can find joy and happiness in life, whether dealing with challenging life events, ongoing anxiety and depression, or unresolved trauma and loss as we acknowledge and address the hard things that life throws our way.
Life experience shapes us in ways that impact healthy and unhealthy patterns of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Seeking help in navigating the impact of challenging life experiences is the first step in creating emotional, mental, and physical well-being. My goal is to walk with an individual through their personal journey of growth and self-discovery as they find their way to meeting their objectives for improved mental health and well-being.

I Specialize in TRAUMA/ PTSD, ADOPTION, and ADDICTION. Past difficulties can affect us deeply and can affect our ability to connect with people, control our emotions, and can lead to constant anxiety and hopelessness. This can lead to a deep disconnected feeling from ourself and also lead to various addictions. Most therapists try to help clients manage a trauma or addiction. I focus on helping you heal the origin of the problem. If you want to get rid of a weed you don't just trim the top you have to pull it out by the roots.

I specialize in working with trauma, chronic pain, anxiety, depression, faith crises, grief, and life transitions.
It can be discouraging to feel deeply that something is wrong in your mind or body, but not know how to fix it or change. Maybe you’re experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD, chronic pain, or relationship issues. Feelings of hopelessness or frustration can be overwhelming, but I can assure you - you are not broken. Everything you need to heal is already inside you, and I am here to walk with you as you reconnect with that inherent wisdom. Talk therapy alone may not be enough to tap into your inner knowing and heal your wounded parts. If you're ready to move beyond talk therapy, this is the place for you.

My goal is to target symptoms and bring relief, not keep you in therapy for the rest of your life.

Based on my own experiences I am particularly sensitive and skilled in tailoring counseling methods to the unique concerns for those struggling with addiction, victims of abuse, depression, anxiety, and trauma.
The counseling world is shifting. The latest studies are proving that effective counseling goes beyond just talk therapy: it includes attention to both the mind and the body. I utilize experiential modalities, based on cutting-edge research and real-world experience by the world’s leading experiential practitioners. I combine this with classic techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Somatic Experiencing (SE). Applying these tandem techniques in the counseling setting helps my clients attain tangible and life-altering changes.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
