This could include unresolved trauma, ethnicity and race, gender, sexuality, and/or relationship difficulties.
My practice is about creating and enhancing a meaningful life. Through a belief that our disturbances--about ourselves, others or life in general - lead us to the doorway of wholeness, we work together to unfold and recognize that essence.

I work mostly with adults, couples, groups, and families.
Loss is hard. Change is hard. Relationships are hard. I offer a warm, safe, collaborative space to assist you on needs and goals, improve relationships, heal abuse and trauma, and go from surviving to thriving. Even though healing is hard it can also be an exciting, playful, and soul expanding journey! I am trauma trained and informed (ART, EMDR, Flash method, IFS) and approach therapy from an integrative and experiential standpoint. “If we climb high enough, we will reach a height from which tragedy ceases to look tragic.” (Yalom).

The relationship you have with your therapist will be one of the most important factors in determining whether or not therapy will be effective for you.
I take a direct approach to treatment. Although eclectic in style, I am most closely attached to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). We will focus on the thought processes and behavioral responses that are contributing to the life dissatisfaction you are experiencing. I am solution-focused. The atmosphere will be empathetic, but our goal will be to effect change in your life. We may discuss your childhood, family relationships, or specific losses and grievances, only to the extent necessary to understand what is happening now.

In our sessions, we’ll work together to explore your challenges, whether it’s managing anxiety, navigating life transitions, or overcoming relationship struggles.
I believe therapy should be a collaborative, non-judgmental space where your story is heard, your feelings are validated, and your strengths are acknowledged. My practice is grounded in evidence-based modalities like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, and Mind-Body Bridging, all viewed through a Feminist Multicultural Therapy (FMT) lens. This means I consider not just your individual experiences but also how broader social and cultural systems impact your mental health and well-being.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
