Are your relationships not what you want? Are you and your partner(s) struggling with connection and conflict? Maybe there has been some type of betrayal or uncertainty if you want to continue the relationship? I can help! It can be difficult to place faith in a stranger, & beginning therapy can be awkward or even scary. However, couples & individuals who I have worked with have experienced a greater sense of purpose, an improved sense of self, and better relationships. I have helped my clients cultivate healthy relationships, more satisfying sex, & break out of dysfunctional patterns. I am kink aware, LGBTQIA+ and ENM affirming!

As we struggle to meet the demands of life, we often do battle with ourselves. We may end up feeling lost, stuck, alone, and overwhelmed; struggling to feel comfortable in our own skin, to feel like we belong, and to just live. If you are yearning for ways to reconnect with life, to leave behind ruts, and to learn to love yourself and others, there is hope in therapy.

I invite you to experience a cooperative therapy relationship in which you have the freedom to be yourself, to be imperfect, to laugh, and to evolve. Do you look like you have it all together, but inside, you struggle to enjoy life? Despite your best efforts at change, do you feel stuck? People who reach out to me are high achieving and high functioning adults often with successful careers, families, and/or social lives. Despite their accomplishments, however, they struggle privately with emotional concerns including anxiety, grief, self-doubt, unresolved trauma, perfectionism, chronic pain, and relationship problems.

Hello! I am accepting new clients. No matter how strong or resilient, there are times in each of our lives when we need some outside help. Whether it's getting out of bed, learning how to set boundaries, fostering self-compassion, changing toxic habits, finding inner calm, processing past or current trauma, and anything in-between, therapy can be a powerful and helpful resource. Your challenges, needs, and goals are likely a combination entirely unique to you, which is why you deserve an individualized and collaboratively created treatment approach as you navigate the often overwhelming process of improving mental health.

Healing from trauma isn't easy. I don't believe sugarcoating how difficult this process may be, is beneficial to anyone. But you don't have to go through it alone. I have been working with survivors of trauma for the last 6 years. I've specialized in working with survivors of sexual assault, rape, domestic violence, intimate partner violence and abuse. I know picking the right therapist for this process may be difficult, so I encourage having a free phone consultation with me, to see if it feels like a good fit! I'm excited that you've begun this process of healing, and look forward to playing a role in your healing journey.

Jenny has a strong belief in the possibilities of healing, growth and change within an authentic collaborative client/therapist relationship. She has over 18 years of experience working with individuals and families recovering from trauma, living with chronic illness, working through relationship concerns and facing the challenges of mental illness. Taking the first steps to heal is often difficult, or even painful, however in doing so we can create a "path with heart" and meaning. She takes a mindfulness based, goal oriented and active approach to therapy with focus on developing critical life skills.

Online Therapists

Is online therapy as effective as in-person?

Numerous studies suggest that online therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy. However, further research is needed to determine if online therapy provides the same benefits across all client populations. Individuals with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, or those who may benefit from in-person check-ins, like those with eating disorders, may not experience the same level of benefit from online therapy. Nonetheless, the success of online therapy, much like in-person therapy, often hinges on the quality of the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client rather than the specific modality of therapy used.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of therapy conducted online?

One of the main advantages of online therapy is its convenience for both clients and therapists. It also allows clients who require specialized therapy to access a wider range of professionals than they could with only in-person sessions. Additionally, online therapy may be a more affordable option in some cases and often offers the same insurance benefits as in-person therapy. However, online therapy may not be suitable for everyone, especially those who value face-to-face interaction with a therapist. Therapists may find it more challenging to assess clients accurately in an online setting due to reduced nonverbal cues on camera. There is also the increased risk that disruptions caused by external factors, such as technology malfunctions, can hinder the therapy session. For these reasons, many therapists offer a "hybrid" therapeutic approach, alternating between seeing clients in-person and online.

Is online therapy suitable for children and adolescents?

Just like with adults, the accessibility and convenience of online therapy can greatly benefit children and adolescents. In fact, children and adolescents may be more accustomed to navigating online platforms than older adults, making online sessions feel more natural for them. Teens might also be interested in using additional online tools, such as therapist-recommended apps, as an adjunct to online therapy sessions. Apps for developing CBT skills, practicing mindfulness exercises, or tracking thoughts and moods can be helpful for teens receiving therapy. However, it's important to note that not all therapeutic modalities are well-suited to online therapy, especially those used with younger children. For example, play therapy, which helps younger children express their emotions, often requires in-person sessions to be fully effective.

Can I receive prescriptions and medication management with online therapy?

The ability for psychiatrists to prescribe medications through online therapy varies based on the medication and the states where the medical professional and client are located. While many prescribing regulations were relaxed during the COVID-19 pandemic, some states still enforce rules, especially concerning controlled substances, which may mandate an in-person visit before prescribing. Generally, however, medical professionals can prescribe non-controlled substances through online therapy sessions just as they do during in-person sessions.
