I specialize in treating trauma, relationship problems, depression, anxiety, and behavior issues in children and adults.
We heal through connections and attachment with others. I aim to create a safe place to build meaningful connections and heal from trauma and emotional pain using evidence-based treatments. Everyone deserves to be valued, respected, and have a healthy connection to another human being. We cannot heal alone, and together, we are strong and unstoppable.

As your counselor, I strive to partner with you helping to discover what it is you need in your own life.
There are moments in life when change comes swiftly catching us by surprise. We wake up and question who we are, wonder if we ever trusted ourselves, or ruminate on our every decision. Whether it comes by divorce, betrayal, death, a cataclysmic change in beliefs or other transitions in life, we are no longer the same after these events. We often discover we want more: more authenticity, more love, more alignment, more healing, more truth. Counseling can be a place to come home to yourself while you wade through the pain of change. I hope to offer you the empathy that can only come from lived experience rebuilding my own life.

I recognize the importance of the therapeutic relationship and understand it can be difficult to initiate therapy.
I find people are far more capable and resilient than they realize. My approach to therapy is collaborative, eclectic and person-centered. Whether the challenge stems from anxiety, depression or conflict within your relationship, skills can be learned to navigate your life circumstance. Relationships make up the core of who we are as human beings and effort is needed to learn skills to communicate, have healthier conflict resolution or rebuild a relationship (with others and self).

I’m passionate about helping couples, individuals, and families connect to themselves and the people they love.
It’s my personal belief that relationships make the world go round – at least when they’re connected and supportive. Life is hard and relationships can feel very complicated sometimes. Others can say and do hurtful things and trust can be broken by the very people we care the most about. We internalize messages we learned at home or elsewhere and those impact how we interact and be in relationship with others.

My 10 years as a therapist have exposed me to a variety of challenges from deescalating unsafe situations to mediating complex relationship barriers. In my experience trauma can often be found at the core of depression, anxiety, family/spouse conflict, disordered eating, sexual confusion and addiction. All of these challenges can create a sense of feeling stuck, unfulfilled and alone. In some cases, these struggles can be intimidating to address without help. My belief is that therapy acts as a safe place for you to address those struggles in an empowering way; one that gives a sense of purpose, and leaves you feeling connected.

My theoretical foundations include aspects of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
Sometimes life throws us for a loop–we get into an unexpected situation, a loved one passes away, our relationships are fraught with contention–and we feel stuck. When this happens, you don’t have to figure everything out alone. Loneliness and isolation make things worse. When clients work collaboratively with me, I help them find hope, move elegantly through life’s obstacles, and rekindle their passions. I work with a variety of presenting problems, including anxiety, depression, couple and family issues, step-family issues, and parent-child relational issues.

Life is a process and journey. When one feels stuck, it is vital to understand why they are stuck and how to get moving forward again. I strive to help my clients to honestly and courageously seek to understand the conceptual nature of their problems with trauma, addiction, and relationship patterns. When clients can attend, listen, understand, validate, care, and nurture themselves, they can find their way in the journey. As couples and families learn to see each other, create and maintain safety and security, and soothe each other they can find deep and satisfying connections. Now accepting telehealth on Wed mornings/afternoon

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
