It is difficult to create ourselves to our true self until we uncreate the thinking and believing that is causing our distress because "whatever we resist, persists." And no matter how hard you try to numb and suppress the past, it has a way of dictating your present behaviors and affecting the way you feel about yourself and function in relationships today.
