Therapy can be a transformative process. My hope is to bring compassion and curiosity into our work, and together, co-create a space that feels authentic, transparent, and just safe enough to explore past experiences of pain and trauma. When we gain insight into how our past influences our present, we open up our capacity for choice and step into new ways of being that align with our values. I am also a native Spanish speaker and offer therapy in both English and Spanish.

Welcome! I am an expert at helping couples work through relationship problems. If you've been hurt by an affair, you don't feel safe to share your true feelings with your partner, you seem to fight all the time, or can't seem to get on the same page, I can help. My therapy is domestic violence and trauma-informed (I thoroughly and continually assess for safety, I pay attention to how your body feels in session, and I help you to work through past trauma), emotionally-focused (I help you to have a different emotional experience with each other in-session), and culturally-sensitive (I help you to find harmony in your differences).

Humans need safe connection and stability. So when you have experienced complex or chronic trauma, it makes sense to struggle with self-worth, relationships, and stillness. Your “negative” or painful emotions are valid and may be a response to pain from the past. You’ve been in survival mode for years and realized at some point you’d like to feel differently about yourself and your life. Together, we can find enough relief, awareness, and compassion to untangle yourself from trauma and get you back in touch with who you were always meant to be.

I believe effective therapy involves having a rapport with the client, where the client and therapist work together to improve understanding of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I believe that the client has the power to succeed inside. They just need to be given the proper tools. Clients will be better able to handle things like anxiety, depression, and even past trauma during their time in therapy. I believe life is a journey. At some points its trails are filled with switchbacks that are mostly uphill, and sometimes you just feel stuck on the trail and not sure where to go. Clients do not have to travel alone.

I am trained in yoga, play therapy, "inner child work", and therapeutic expressive arts because I recognize that healing is a whole-body experience.
Do you feel stuck in past traumas, disconnected, discouraged or overwhelmed? Does your child find growing up complicated and confusing? While life offers many beautiful moments, navigating today’s world can overwhelms us. We may struggle understanding our feelings or our behaviors and feel unable to move beyond our worst moments. But growth, healing, and relief are possible! Are you ready to move past limiting experiences and change internal hurtful messages? My passion is to help others return to -or discover for the first time- that place of curiosity, safety, and joy that lives inside us all.

I am an Expressive Arts Therapist, Mental Health Counselor, 200 Hour Certified Yoga Instructor, and Restorative Partner Yoga Practitioner.
Healing is real and possible. Suffering does not have to last. I help clients live authentically, find more peace, and connect more to self and others by increasing awareness and acceptance of emotions, increasing body discernment/somatic mindfulness, and enhancing the body/mind/spirit connection. Feeling better comes through learning to regulate the nervous system through the reprocessing of old trauma and healing one's attachment wounds, expressing emotions using expressive arts/music/movement/drumming/psychodrama/writing/etc., learning to re-frame negative thoughts, increasing shame resilience, and practicing self-compassion.

I have been specifically trained in EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance & commitment therapy, expressive arts, Emotionally Focused Therapy (for work with couples), and sand tray therapy.
I believe that everyone has the ability within them to engage with, manage, and heal from life’s challenges, and that therapy provides the space, methods, and tools to do so. I believe peace and well-being are developed through a balance of learning to accept things as they are, while also striving to improve each day. My goal as a therapist is to create a safe environment for individuals to express themselves fully, to help them see themselves as the incredible people they already are, and assist them in moving towards the person they want to be.

Together, we create a safe, non-judgmental space to do the work that helps you feel better. Sometimes that work can be difficult, painful, or even scary, but my clients tell me they appreciate my openness and warm sense of humor. I wish I had more time, but I'm currently prioritizing new clients who are: (1) Primarily interested in art therapy work, and/or (2) Referred by someone I know (such as a current/former colleague, student, or client), and/or (3) Seeking support with trauma, body image/acceptance, or faith deconstruction/transition. Groups may be available.

Expressive Arts Therapists
What happens in expressive arts therapy?
In an expressive arts therapy session, the therapist will provide the space and materials necessary to encourage the client to express themselves creatively. These can include art supplies, musical instruments, a journal, a camera, and more. The therapist offers careful guidance throughout the creative process, often noticing and talking about psychological issues as they arise. Many clients also benefit from the mind-body connection—the physical act of making art can help them feel more grounded and present.
How long does expressive arts therapy take?
An expressive arts therapy session will typically last between 50 minutes and an hour. Group sessions may run longer. Sometimes, a client might only need one or two sessions of expressive arts therapy in conjunction with talk therapy to resolve a psychological issue. Others might find a fixed number of sessions over the course of either weeks or months to be beneficial. The duration depends on the client and their individual needs and goals for therapy.
How does expressive arts therapy help children?
Creativity is an important part of normal child development. Expressive arts therapy proves a safe outlet for child clients to learn to identify their emotions and express them in healthy ways. In expressive arts therapy, children can build their self-esteem, discover more about their personality and strengths, and feel a sense of normalcy in an otherwise chaotic world. This therapeutic approach can be particularly helpful for children with developmental disabilities, autism, ADHD, speech impairments, and other conditions.
What are the limitations of expressive arts therapy?
Sometimes individuals have physical limitations that can affect their ability to express themselves artistically in certain mediums. For example, someone with hearing problems might find it difficult to make music. Sickness and mobility issues can make some types of art physically inaccessible (e.g., sculpting, dancing, etc.). Sometimes, clients are overly skeptical and have trouble letting go and engaging with the creative process. Individuals who require a higher level of care may be better served with other types of therapy.
