I support women in improving emotional and mental health.
Are you exhausted worrying about what others think of you or trying to please everyone? Burned out, feeling like you have nothing more to give…and then feeling guilty or maybe resentful that you are completely drained? How often do you find yourself feeling “not good enough?” Life is absolutely challenging at times, you will experience pain, AND this life is not about enduring misery. I have more than 25 years of experience teaching women how to heal from depression, anxiety, trauma, and grief and how to move through life transitions in a healthy way.

As a specialist of women’s issues and anxiety treatment, I help people experiencing relationship distress, anxiety symptoms, and difficulties with life transitions cope more effectively.
Feeling stuck? Hopeless? Like things aren’t changing? Wondering if your relationship with your spouse or partner will ever improve or if you will just continue in the same cyclical patterns? You might be feeling lonelier than ever as you wrestle with these questions quietly in your heart. You wonder who you can talk to as everyone around you seems to be biased in someway. You know you need a space to think your own thoughts and figure this out for yourself. Or perhaps you struggle with crippling anxiety that has lead to some avoidant behaviors. Either way, you know you want to regain your confidence and feel better.

If you find yourself struggling with the same issues over and over in your parenting, in your marriage, in your work and social life; if your child is continually frustrated, in trouble or alone at school, or has sustained a mTBI or TBI; if you see your parent or grand-parent having difficulties with expressing themselves, remembering things about their loved ones, their activities or other changes in their abilities, a neuropsychological evaluation may be exactly what you need. An evaluation gives a clear picture of what your cognitive functioning is like, and allows for specific and tailored treatment recommendations.

We've all heard the advice: eat right, move more, and get enough rest. But why do we often ignore it? I've worked with clients who felt completely overwhelmed by life. But after exploring their past experiences and learning to manage their emotions, they've found newfound joy and resilience.

If I am doing my job right, you should know within the first session if I am a good fit for you. A great fit means better success for you in your therapy journey. With that said, you should know that I like a good laugh once in a while. Doing hard work doesn’t always have to be heavy. Some days will be harder than others, but I will be in the trenches with you. I am committed to helping you reach your goals and full potential. I am a people person, people fascinate me. I know you are so much more than what others think about you and even more than you may think about yourself.

As both a queer woman and high-altitude ski mountaineer, I often work with members of these communities.
Life is a challenging adventure. I work best with people who are curious about getting unstuck and pursuing their goals. Whether it is stagnation in your career, challenges in your relationship, or anxiety about the many "what ifs" we face each day, asking questions and exploring possibilities provides a way forward. Learning more useful strategies to cope and engage with challenges will be a cornerstone of our work together.

Hi, my name is Amber Frazier, and I am an Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CMHC) In Davis County, Weber County, and surrounding areas. This journey of life can bring so many ups and downs, and at times, the ups can feel way too few and far in between. And sometimes, life may make you question the worth of yourself, the purpose of your life, and the hamster wheel that you’re running everyday can make you feel like you’re chasing after what can sometimes seems meaningless and empty.

I specialize in helping people going through religious and general life transitions. I personally understand the complexity and sometimes liberation one can feel when embarking on change. My passion is to help people cultivate self-compassion and autonomy to face life’s challenges. I strive to make therapy a place where clients feel safe and empowered to make positive changes. I use elements of Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and person-centered therapy. Because I am person-centered and want to meet people where they are at, I will pull from other modalities if needed.

Therapy can be a dynamic experience creating hope and energy. Facing challenges and grieving losses we inevitably face is a powerful step in moving toward a more satisfying present. I view therapy as a collaboration with you to create your transformation and growth. Our past experiences shape our view of ourselves and in turn our potential in the future. I hope to assist you to "re-author" the stories you have about yourself not serving a positive purpose and replace them with new stories, skills and a vision that do.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
