I work with adults and adolescents and specialize in depression, grief work, anxiety, trauma, and perinatal mental health.
My therapeutic style is one of warmth and attunement. I provide a safe space for people to explore their inner world, heal past wounds, and discover ways to live with self-compassion and authenticity. I specialize in Somatic Psychotherapy and utilize an eclectic, person-centered approach because I believe effective therapy needs to be both individualized and collaborative. Through mindful inquiry we explore the limiting beliefs that interfere with feeling whole and uncover ways to achieve more fulfillment, meaning, and joy in one’s life.

We are becoming more aware how psychological pain increases when we haven't developed a strong sense of self. Such distress, presenting in forms such as depression and anxiety, can keep us from profound and beautiful connection. Healthy relationships we have with ourselves and others are essential for our emotional well-being. First, live a life that reflects who you are, even if others don't quite understand. Trying to conform to what others want has never been possible. In the Power of Awareness, Neville wrote, "The awareness of 'being' remains regardless of the degree of forgetfulness of who, where and what I am."

Anxiety, depression, or even intense stress can often get in the way of living the life we are meant to live. I begin by assisting you in gaining a sense of empowerment and clear plan to move toward or return to your true self. I provide space for you to break down self-destructive thought and behavioral patterns often caused by a history of trauma, abuse, or loss. You soon begin living your potential with improved body, mind, and soul connection. In couples therapy, I assist in healing the partnership by regaining connection and establishing shared meaning for more consistent positive interactions and fulfilling relationship.

I work with adults and late teens, clients suffering from depression and anxiety, those who have experienced sexual and psychological trauma, clients who are struggling with grief, and those with eating disorders.
I work from a strengths-based, client-centered perspective. I believe that people have a healthy drive toward wellness, but the trials of life often lead them down paths that are counterproductive and even self defeating. A good therapist can help people rediscover joy in their lives and their relationships, as well as re-establish a healthy and strong sense of self. It is gratifying to see people rediscover their unique strengths and uncover new-found capacities to survive and thrive in the face of life's many challenges. With a therapist's caring support, new possibilities become a reality.

As a trauma-informed child therapist specializing in anxiety, I understand the unique difficulties you and your child are facing.
Parenting a child who struggles with anxiety and mental health issues can be an incredibly challenging and heart-wrenching experience. You might feel helpless as you watch your child battle fears and worries that seem too big to manage, or struggle with physical symptoms like stomachaches and headaches caused by anxiety. Perhaps you've noticed your child avoiding certain situations or activities, having trouble sleeping, or finding it difficult to focus in school.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
