Does it feel like there is something wrong with you? Are you overwhelmed with daily life, while it seems everyone else is getting along fine? Many people struggle with past trauma, anxiety, or high levels of stress that make it difficult to cope, let alone enjoy life. Often my clients find me when they’re at this point. They’re dealing with PTSD, feel trapped in the past, or have crushing depression and anxiety. I work with motivated adults, those in the LGBTQ+ community, and others who need an accepting and supportive therapist. I know it can feel like you’ll never get better, but you can get through this, and you deserve support.

Every person (including you!) has value and worth. It doesn’t matter who you are, how old you are, what you have done, or what has happened to you. You are valuable, just because you are here. Secondly, know that your life has value and a meaning – even when you are in pain. Many of us at various times of life need a little extra help-whether to process “stuff” that happened, or to figure out why we do what we do – I have a lifetime of experiences and training to help you do just that!

It might include managing anxiety, learning self compassion, using nature and body movement to work through trauma, or learning how to change a behavior that is keeping you stuck.
Has traditional therapy not given you the changes you’ve wanted? Have you struggled to find the causes of your anxiety, stress, and depression? Do overthinking and life changes affect your overall quality of life? I believe it shouldn’t be so complicated to have a better life. I have over ten years experience helping people find the root causes of their anxiety and depression by looking at core beliefs and how those inform patterns in thinking and behavior. I will teach you how to practice self compassion, and gain understanding from the inside out. My approach is informed by Eastern philosophy and mindful-based interventions.

As a Licensed Clinical Therapist I have worked with a wide clientele base; teenagers, adults, and families, many whom are from diverse ethnic backgrounds. My experience has reiterated to me time and again the uniqueness and great worth of each individual as well as the progressive capability innate within us all. As such my approach is to work along side each client, not as a director but in many ways a visitor and fellow journey man on the path of life where I may be able to offer some clarity and illuminate alternative paths during disruptive times in their lives.

Chances are there is not going to be a quick fix or band aid remedy available to your problem or situation. However, finding the solution does not need to be too far from reach and it would be my intent to make the journey look less daunting. Yet, when it comes to addressing those negative behaviors or addictive traits that often impact our ability to form or maintain a quality of life or healthy relationships. It is important that we are deliberate, calculated, and consistent in our method of treatments. We can start doing this together by creating a space that is conducive with rigorous honesty and vulnerability.

Life can be challenging and can sometimes get in the way of our happiness. This can lead to problems that can be difficult to work through on our own. I work with clients to resolve these problems by utilizing their strengths and resources. I also provide different perspectives and therapeutic modalities to achieve each client’s individualized goals. I am a trans- man and I have a lot of experience with people who are part of the transgender/gender non-conforming community. I am very familiar with the steps to get surgery as well as what recovery for surgery looks like. I am also well versed in letters for gender affirming surgeries.

My top priority is for each client to feel seen, understood, supported, and not alone. I work to facilitate a judgment-free space where people can explore their traumas, self esteem, and life experiences to better understand who they are, where they’ve come from, and where they want to be. My style of practice is one of openness and acceptance that includes the empathy to provide a difficult ‘push’ when necessary. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, issues of self-worth, identity and self image, or environmental life stressors, it is my goal to help you feel secure in your journey towards healing.

Life is a process and journey. When one feels stuck, it is vital to understand why they are stuck and how to get moving forward again. I strive to help my clients to honestly and courageously seek to understand the conceptual nature of their problems with trauma, addiction, and relationship patterns. When clients can attend, listen, understand, validate, care, and nurture themselves, they can find their way in the journey. As couples and families learn to see each other, create and maintain safety and security, and soothe each other they can find deep and satisfying connections. Now accepting telehealth on Wed mornings/afternoon

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
