Taking care of our mental health is just as important as our physical health. I believe healing and thriving occur through creating new meaning from our life experiences and through nurturing loving connection with others and ourselves. I also understand coming to therapy to get help with life's challenges can be scary. You don’t have to do this alone, and I will go at your pace and support you in developing the skills and confidence to face those challenges. Every human is worthy of love, acceptance, and respect just as they are, and I work hard to create a safe space for my clients where they feel they can share and be themselves.

As a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), my training is rooted in chronic illness and disability. While I am trained to treat a variety of mental health conditions, this patient population is near and dear to my heart.

Life does not have to be endured with anxiety, depression, negative self talk and strained relationships. Life should be empowered, enjoyed, joyful, with a strong sense of self and healthy relationships while overcoming adversity and looking toward the future. Our relationships with ourselves have the greatest influence on how we experience life. The mind and body connection is an integral part of overall well-being.

We all have times in life when we feel stuck and don't know how to get unstuck. It can feel hopeless, frustrating, and demoralizing especially when you try to do it out on your own. It's okay to seek extra support so that you can figure out what you need to move forward in life in a way that you can feel good about.

I have always felt drawn to helping others. This desire led me to pursue an undergraduate degree in Psychology & Child Development from Utah State University & later a Masters in Clinical Social Work from Baylor University. I'm trained in TF-CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and Solution-Focused Therapy. I'm here to serve you, to support your goals, to see the best in you, & envision the life you can still create no matter what you’ve been through. My approach to healing begins with helping you build a foundational understanding of how your past experiences continue to impact your present & how you can move forward.

In a session with me, you can expect a safe, nonjudgmental space where you and I collaborate to determine what will best work for you. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in my approach, which means the questions I ask you are meant to help you think differently. My master’s degree is in Rehabilitation Counseling from Utah State University, which gives me unique insight into working with clients with disabilities or chronic illness. I enjoy working with all age groups - children, teens, or adults. I’m especially passionate in working with neurodivergent clients (i.e. autism, ADHD, OCD, etc) to navigate their unique life experiences.

As a therapist, I can help clients meet their goals by actively listening to their needs and understanding their unique perspectives. This involves creating a safe and non-judgmental space where clients feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings. By employing empathetic listening, I can identify their underlying concerns and aspirations, which allows me to tailor therapeutic interventions to their specific situations. Additionally, I will collaboratively set realistic and attainable goals with the clients, ensuring that these objectives are aligned with their values and desires.

Are you plagued with “if only?”: If only I had the patience to deal with my child’s tantrums. If only I had more time to be a good parent. If only I could explain to others about my child’s difficulties. If only I had support. The if only can be overwhelming when dealing with a child that seems different from others of his or her age group. Each child is special and unique. Allow me to guide your child and your family to a better understanding of the unique strengths and qualities they are capable of.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
