I use a wide variety of therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Christian Counseling, EMDR, Emotional Freedom Therapy, Parts of Self Work/IFS, and Trauma Therapy to uncover the belief system that may be hindering your growth process.
As humans, we were not meant to walk through life alone. Oftentimes when we face the hurt and deep wounds we have incurred over time, we find ourselves feeling disconnected, isolated, and hopeless. More than anything, what we need is the help of others who will delve into these sacred places with us and help us navigate through the uncertainty and emotions that we hold beneath the surface. As your therapist and guide, I am here to help carry these burdens with you so you can walk in emotional freedom and heal from the root of the pain.

Life is full of challenges that bring both joy and pain. There are times when painful experiences such as loss, trauma, depression, anxiety, addictions, transitions, relationships and more can leave us feeling lost, overwhelmed, and even hopeless. When we experience such difficulties, it is necessary to reach out and connect with others who can help us feel heard, empathize with our pain, and help us learn and grow. If you are needing this kind of connection, I can help you discover your inner strength and build resilience for coping with such difficulties.

Same week availability! Do you need a safe space to share your feelings and struggles without fear of judgement? Do you need something to change in your life or relationships? Are you ready to embark on a journey that, although difficult, will help you to THRIVE, not just SURVIVE? I am comfortable with and have experience working with many issues, but my favorite issue to help people battle is compulsive sexual behaviors, compulsive pornography use, and betrayal trauma as a result of those behaviors in others. It often feels like you are the only one struggling with these things, and like no one could ever understand.

I will work with you from a non judgmental place to help you better understand your trials and move toward a better, more fulfilling life.

Life can be hard and at some point we might need some support, change can be stressful and overwhelming, and healing can be quite the journey but it is worth it. I hope to be a part of your journey by collaborating with you on your goals.

Do not dare, not to dare – C. S. Lewis. Welcome, fellow traveler! I wish that I could convey all the hope I feel for you, that things can change, relationships can heal, and life can get better. I specialize in helping couples to go from being roommates, strangers, or even enemies to being true life partners. I’ll be honest: there’s nothing I’d rather be than a couple’s therapist. Why? Because when both partners are in the room, magic happens. Protective armor is easier to see, and easier to take off; just underneath the surface, there is so much vulnerability that naturally invites empathy and caring. Then, real healing can happen.

Maybe you have found yourself in the depths of depression, curled up in a ball and crying… or you feel your chest tightening and stomach gurgling anxiously… or you can’t understand why the person you love keeps hurting you. Maybe you’ve thought if you just try a little harder you can figure this out. We instinctively hide pain and vulnerability and our sense of failure. Maybe you were taught to just get over it. It’s ok to need a little help and guidance - we all do sometimes. And we don’t want to feel shame, guilt or blame when we are vulnerable and asking for help - we need to feel like someone gets it and can give us guidance.

Have you been struggling with the same problems, thoughts, or feelings for weeks, months, or even years and can't seem to get them under control? Are your intimate, social, and work relationships being affected by reoccurring problems and thoughts? It's very frustrating when your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are not in line with your values and who you want to be. You know that if you could just learn to let go of the past and focus on the present, then your life and relationships will improve; but you just don't know how. Is there hope?

Everyone has a story. We add pages to it every day. We don't always get to choose what life throws our way. And often, we can find ourselves spiraling out of control. I am passionate about helping my clients write the stories they want to share about themselves and their lives. My focus is on self-authorship and meaning-making. I care deeply about creating a safe space where healing can happen, and your story can be fully heard and seen. My clients’ stories matter to me. Let's write the kind of story you always wanted to tell!

Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?

Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same belief system or background to be able to work effectively together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience in tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of culture, religion, and other factors on each individual.

Why is it important to find a therapist sensitive to Christian values?

Each person brings a unique history and background to therapy, making it important to find a licensed therapist who is trained in a broad range of treatment modalities. In addition, for people who grow up in a faith tradition that strongly influences the way they conduct their everyday life, finding a therapist who understands or shares that background can ease the disclosure of sensitive information and facilitate the therapeutic process. For some clients, a Christian therapist is likely to incorporate faith-based principles into emotional healing techniques.

How do I recognize an effective Christian therapist?

Christian therapists are licensed mental health professionals—holding a master’s or doctoral degree in medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy—who are also familiar with Christian beliefs and values. They have an understanding of the importance that Christian principles play in the lives of individuals and families, which allows them to be especially sensitive to the kinds of struggles that can affect daily functioning. Like all effective therapists, a Christian therapist will have undergone training and certification in a variety of treatment modalities that help people through crises and enable them to master the challenges of life.

Why might someone feel comfortable with a Christian therapist?

While training, qualifications, and experience are always important, research has long established that a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic success. An alliance is likely to be strengthened with a therapist who not only is responsive to questions and concerns but also shares a client’s faith and values. Sensitivity to spiritual matters as well as to everyday struggles can provide a welcome sense of safety and contribute to the bond between client and therapist, both of which support the therapeutic process.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Christian therapists?

The directory of Christian therapists includes professionals who have shared their background in their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Christian clients, regardless of their own background or religious affiliation.
