I'm here to work with anyone who feels like a misfit and outcast in this community. Especially LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent folk. Also all sexual, relationship, and gender orientations and all body types. I see you! I welcome you! You are accepted as you are! Feeling different can often lead to trauma, and trauma can lead to feeling misunderstood and hopelessness. I'm here for it all. I'm here to help you heal and thrive in this wonderful, crazy world. I also work with couples navigating mixed-faith marriages, non-monogamy, intimacy, and communication barriers.

Erin enjoys working with couples, individuals, and families. She has experience treating anxiety, depression, mood disorders, grief/loss, emotional dysregulation, OCD, trauma, and more. She especially loves teaching people how to cultivate emotional wellness using what research has taught us about the body and brain. She views each person as the expert of their own experience and collaborates with her clients to help them meet their goals in a way that works for them. She knows it takes a great deal of trust and effort to engage in therapy, and feels honored to be part of that work.

As a licensed psychotherapist, I have the skills and training to help you gain a deeper understanding of your relationship with your inner experiences, and empower you to decide how the story continues. I have experience with a wide range of issues, including eating disorders, body image and self-esteem concerns, OCD, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship issues, and life changes and transitions.

You are the master of your own experiences and memories. Through an authentic therapeutic relationship, my desire is to provide safety for you to be seen, heard, and offered tools to navigate these experiences. I value the importance of providing space and understanding for you to be empowered with your own voice, and tailoring treatment to your specific needs. Whether this be a check in, navigating factors of every day impediments such as anxiety, depression or ADHD, relationship conflict, effective communication, or dealing with detectible traumatic events, or substantial trauma. No experience large or small is insignificant.

As your therapist, I will work from a humanistic approach, which means you are the expert on your own life. My role is to help you move through trauma and ineffective behaviors to more fully understand and respect yourself. This means that I trust your instincts and your body. All of the work we do will be done through a trauma-based lens to encourage self-compassion and challenge shame. Your life going forward doesn't have to be a repeat of your past. We can shift these patterns through becoming fully present in your body and with your emotions. I strongly encourage people to use their intuition to help guide their healing.

People rarely come to therapy on a whim. Usually, there has been much deliberation and agonizing before an appointment is made. I have been working with people in a mentoring/coaching/therapy capacity for over 25 years and I know it is scary to begin a relationship with someone you don't know. I try to make it easier by being approachable and straightforward; Solas, my dog is there to engage as much or little as you wish. The consistent feedback I get from my clients and those I mentor is that they feel heard, honored, valued and safe.

As a therapist, I can help clients meet their goals by actively listening to their needs and understanding their unique perspectives. This involves creating a safe and non-judgmental space where clients feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings. By employing empathetic listening, I can identify their underlying concerns and aspirations, which allows me to tailor therapeutic interventions to their specific situations. Additionally, I will collaboratively set realistic and attainable goals with the clients, ensuring that these objectives are aligned with their values and desires.

My ideal clients come in with past traumas that they are hoping to heal from. These trauma's could be childhood traumas, relationship abuse, military trauma, child birth traumas, or sexual dysfuntions that resulted in traumatic experiences. I truly believe that more healing happens from resolving trauma than nearly anything else. My goal for therapy is to help you heal, to help bring joy and light back into your life. You are not defined by the experiences you have had and they shouldn't alter your happiness. Healing from trauma is one of the most rewarding experiences that can happen in therapy. I believe you can do it!

It can be so nerve-wracking to let a stranger into your life! I personally know how difficult that can be, so I strive to be a safe, warm, and friendly space for all people to be seen and heard. No person, couple or family is the same. Although people may have similar life issues such as anxiety and depression, each person experiences it differently due to their unique upbringings, family dynamics, spiritual beliefs, and socio-cultural differences.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
