When you work with me as a counselor, know that although I cannot fix your grief, I can walk the path with you and help you find meaning in your journey.
Hi, I'm Amy (she/her) and I'm a counselor specializing in guiding individuals through life's transitions and grief and loss. The difficulties I support clients through can arise from many different situations, such as living with chronic illness or cancer, bereavement or anticipatory bereavement, caregiver burnout, romantic breakups, job layoffs, and more. In addition to being a licensed counselor, I am an experienced hospice volunteer. I understand how important it is to have a supportive space for processing grief and creating meaning for clients facing the end of their life and for caregivers supporting ill family members.

I have extensive training in treating trauma, depression, and grief/ loss.
I love helping people grasp what motivates them to live their best lives. It's no secret that life is complicated. We each have our battles to face. If you're struggling, feel stuck, or just aren't living the life you want, I invite you to come and explore what potential you have. Together we will learn new coping skills, explore new avenues, and re-process how the brain is handling traumatic events. I primarily use Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to treat trauma and other mental blocks. I believe that you are the expert, and I'm here to support you.

Problems I have successfully treated include: work-related stress, relationship issues, trauma, childhood abuse, chronic illness, and the sudden loss of health, PTSD, anxiety disorders, depression, and more.
Telehealth appointments available now! For many of us, the decision to seek therapy isn't an easy one. It can be hard to admit there is a problem we can't solve on our own, or to face the feelings that we get so good at pushing away. Healing is possible--even from trauma and loss. The process works best when you find someone who you feel is on your side, and is working with you to help you reach your goals. I hope I can be that person for you! I have successfully treated PTSD, anxiety disorders, depression, and more. As a working mother myself, I feel a special desire to help other moms achieve their mental health goals.

Hi, my name is Treasa Lewis and I am a licensed therapist. I first got into this field because of my own experiences with trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, hearing loss, a child of an addict, codependency and attachment issues. My specialties include supporting those who struggle with a lack of self-love, loss, or who are dealing with an immense amount of shame and guilt.
I believe every woman, man and child has infinite value and worth. Whether we have experienced feelings of worthlessness because of our own actions or because of the actions of others, developing self-love is the pathway toward true joy. When we experience trauma, we develop false ideas about ourselves and the world that keep us in a place of fear, anger, and hopelessness. We make decisions based on those beliefs that cause ourselves and others despair. When we learn to love ourselves completely, we can find true healing within ourselves and the world in a deeply powerful way.

As a therapist, my goal is to help clients identify and understand barriers in their life that are preventing them from achieving peace and happiness. I believe with knowledge comes power; as people gain insight into problems affecting them they can gain insight on how to achieve change in their life. I help clients explore their strengths and weaknesses, while working to use strengths to cope with life challenges, identifying a path to promote change. Lastly, I work to empower clients and help them develop the skills necessary to be successful after our work together is complete.

Do you ever struggle with feeling you are not good enough? No matter how many things you have to be grateful for in your life there is still a part of you that feels less than? Do you feel like you have no idea who you are, or how to love yourself more? Maybe you are in a mid life crisis and are trying to figure out who you are now that the kids don't need you every minute of the day. Maybe you have spent years talking about how you want to fix things, but no matter how much you do nothing seems to be different.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
