If boundaries are good for me, why are they so scary? Many of us were never taught how to set healthy boundaries with those around us, let alone know what a boundary even is. This can lead to you feeling pushed around, taken advantage of, or that you’re small, like your voice doesn’t matter. I’m here to tell you that your voice DOES matter, and that you get to make and set the rules of your life. You have the ultimate say, it’s just a matter of learning to trust yourself and being bold about what you want and need.

What does it mean to be perfect? Oftentimes, we tell ourselves that life will be better, we’ll be happier, with the perfect body. I work with clients who are struggling with their body image and the conditions that typically come with it: anxiety, depression, negative body image, and eating disorders. They are doing what they can to love who they are, regardless of what their body looks like, but want support in developing strength, confidence, and resilience.

I also draw from extensive training in other mindfulness-based and somatic-oriented modalities, and occasionally provide coping skills from CBT, DBT, and ACT.
I work with adults only and specialize in treatment for chronic pain & illness, trauma/PTSD, and anxiety. I also help with a range of other issues. I especially enjoy supporting clients who have centralized conditions (e.g., fibromyalgia, IBS) and/or autoimmune diseases alongside histories of trauma. Clients often come into therapy with me expressing a desire to more deeply understand themselves and their sense of suffering, and to let go of the burdens they carry. My job in that process is never to fix you or tell you what to do. Rather, it is to support you in discovering your own deep knowing about who you are and what you need.

Discovering the "right" therapist can be a challenging task. Relationships are powerful tools for healing. As a therapist, I strive to provide an environment where you can simply show up - show up as you: authentic, messy, confused, and questioning. I believe in the transformative power of honesty, compassion, and true courage in each of our personal journeys. By looking deeply into one’s self, with care and guidance, there are profound rewards to be experienced… such as increased empathy for others, the joys of human connection, and acceptance of one’s own beautiful vulnerability.

Hi, I'm Bailley! I absolutely love the therapist/client relationship and believe it's essential for you to find someone you feel comfortable with. Our work together can inspire insight for you to understand your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. This allows space for self-reflection and exploration of underlying issues, often rooted in past experiences, to foster personal growth and emotional healing. By uncovering these insights, you can develop healthier coping mechanisms and make more informed choices. This can help you handle anxiety, depression, OCD, life transitions, self-esteem issues, and more.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
