Although, I am trained and experienced in working with many types of clinical issues, I consider myself specialized in depression, trauma, and anxiety.
Frankel wrote, "When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves." I bring health, peace, and strength to people's lives. The path of personal change is done faster and smoother when traveled with a mentor. I've worked in the behavioral health field since 2006. I've worked closely with my clients to help create positive changes. I've done this by helping them set goals and develop the needed skills to achieve them, and by helping them cultivate their hidden strengths. I also provide educational training.

As a dedicated therapist, I aim to support individuals navigating mental health challenges through a holistic, empathetic approach. Currently, I focus on working with male clients, offering specialized care in areas such as addiction, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, and more. One aspect of mental health that profoundly resonates with me is the pervasive feeling of loneliness and the realization of being friendless. These experiences can be profoundly isolating and impact one's overall well-being. I understand the unique struggles that come with these feelings and strive to create an environment of healing.

Do you pretend everything is okay but inside your thoughts are spiraling and it feels like you’re barely holding things together? Do you exhaust yourself trying to get everything right and taking care of everyone else? The thought of saying no or someone being upset with you may leave you feeling panicked and anxious. You are probably tired of analyzing conversations and guessing what people think about you. You don't want to be in survival mode anymore. You want to feel more in control and feel okay being you. You want to know you'll be okay even when things are hard. You're in the right place.

You want to be able to get rid of the anxiety and guilt you feel all the time.
On the outside, you’re a woman who seems to have it all together. You are a high achiever, responsible, motivated and work hard. You have good relationships & don't want to disappoint the people you love. Despite your accomplishments, you never feel good enough and you can't figure out what's wrong with you. You hate the way you feel and want to take up less space. Eating feels stressful and confusing. You might try to feel better by limiting what you eat, exercising too much, or binging and purging. You have had bad experiences in your life you continue to think about and feel weak because you can’t just get over it.

Working with people in anxiety, depression, shock and pain, arguing couples, shy people, and recovering alcoholics/addicts, I've learned to facilitate growth potential inherent in painful circumstances.
For over 25 years I have been helping people when their lives have become painful, deadened, upsetting, or when unexpected events disrupted their lives. I will join with you to help tolerate immediate concerns, to develop effective techniques for you, and if you want, explore further possibilities for more satisfying relationships and life. I'm experienced in both brief, solution-focused therapy, and exploratory deep therapy. I offer clients an empathic, collaborative and individually-focused therapeutic relationship: the surprising paradox of relationship is how we become more true to ourselves by fully being with someone else.

Available everywhere in Utah through video conferencing. Many people struggle with feeling different, strange, or like others do not relate to them well. Many people feel like they have to hide who they are and have no place to be themselves. Many new clients worry about being pushed to confront truths and emotions before they are ready. I seek to first get clients ready to change then support them as they lead the way. This goes for the person with depression who needs to reshape their relationships; the person with PTSD facing their painful past; and the gay person grappling with the consequences of coming out or not.

You are worth the investment! Some studies suggest that over 80% of all physical symptoms may have emotional or psychological roots. Sometimes anxiety and depression are just our body's way of letting us know a change is needed. If your relationships or life situations are causing you more distress than joy, therapy can help. We all experience pain, loss, and feelings of rejection. Although these feelings are normal, if neglected they can quickly become barriers to happiness and growth.

I have significant experience working with adoption and attachment related issues with teens, trauma, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, autoimmune and other health related issues.
I am passionate about supporting those ready and willing to face the trials and traumas that we all experience on some level. I love working with individuals seeking support to create change in their lives. It is easy to get stuck and we often hold onto past traumas and hurts that can create mental, emotional, physical and spiritual dis-ease. Finding your way back to self is critical in living a heart centered life and that is my hope for you. Healing is possible and we are not meant to walk this path alone. One of my mantras is "Turn your pain into your purpose". I do believe we can make peace with our past. Are you ready?

My specializations include trauma, anxiety, depression, autism, and marriage hardships.
I uses a strength-based and solution-focused approach, helping individuals to identify their own strengths and power while identifying realistic solutions. I have experience working in a range of settings including hospital level care, IOP, PHP, OP... I do not have a laundry list of specializations and believe that it is impossible to specialize in that many things. I specifically has experience in working with childhood trauma, attachment issues, autism, depression, and anxiety symptoms. I stress the importance of being your authentic self during your healing process and strive to create a safe space for this to occur.

I specialize in helping women overcome depression, anxiety and trauma.
One of the most difficult things about depression, anxiety and PTSD is that you can feel all alone in the experience. It can be hard to share it with others especially when friends and family know you as the girl-who-can-do-it-all. That disconnect from others is painful but even worse is the disconnect you can feel from yourself. Therapy can provide a relationship and a process to help you move forward.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
