I will often use IFS with EMDR which gives a client space between them and their trauma and makes it easier for them to progress.
Therapy is a safe place to allow yourself to feel and gain insight to your life and your personal journey. It is a place to work through limiting beliefs and negative behavioral patterns that stop us from progressing toward the life we dream of. In Therapy, we work on long and short-term goals, help you build deeper relationships, and strengthen communication in all areas of your life. Together, we will identify your strengths and use them to address challenging areas in your life. This leads to change and growth which promotes healing.

I often incorporate CBT, IFS-informed parts work, somatic therapies & EFT tapping in sessions w/ a client-centered approach.
One of my personal mottos is “I am still learning” and I use the same perspective with clients as we work to address your needs in therapy together. Through the therapeutic process, I hope to empower you with greater understanding and compassion for yourself and for what you are learning from your experiences and choices rather than engaging with the inner critic who tends to shame and belittle. I believe in the power of an individual to make desired change in their life. I love helping individuals gain greater insight into thought, feeling and behavior patterns that you feel are no longer serving your best interests.

I also use IFS (Internal Family Systems) & EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) therapy to help with exploring deeper issues that may be blocking life progress.
I use a holistic view and person-centered approach and believe each individual has the ability to find the answers within. I view therapy as a place to explore the different parts of self that contribute to the whole of a person. I love helping others find the places within that feel blocked or stuck and help them address what is needed to help clients move forward with renewed hope. I believe as one begins the healing journey they will become more in tune with mind, body, spirit connection and can tap into their unique strengths to create a life with meaning and happiness.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) or parts work involves exploring and understanding oneself and changing one's story.
Throughout my life, I have sought the kindness and understanding of others. I have experienced trauma, which has helped shape me into the person I am today. I understand the importance of feeling seen, heard, and understood, even by a stranger. To be human is to yearn for meaning and significance. Sometimes, it feels impossible to find this within ourselves without the extended hand of others. My passion lies in connecting with people and exploring the incredible potential of the mind, body, and soul. My goal is to assist others in finding and thriving in their own health and happiness.

I take an eclectic approach, but lean heavily on modalities including: EMDR, IFS/Somatic-informed EMDR and Sandplay.
Limited openings and only taking new clients until 11/1/24. I believe one of the bravest things you can do is to begin to dive deep into your childhood and connect those experiences with what you encounter in your daily life. Taking that first step can be terrifying and my desire is to help guide you through changes to help you get where you want to be in your healing journey. Whether that is learning how to set and hold healthy boundaries, managing overwhelming anxiety, practicing Mindfulness tools or addressing deep wounds that come from trauma, I hope to support you to achieve greater freedom from what is holding you back now.

I utilize evidenced-based tools such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and internal family systems to empower individuals as they navigate the challenges and complexities of life.
Being proficient in fundamental emotional skills can help you get through life and its challenges. As a therapist I teach people the techniques of how to regulate their emotions, tolerate stressful events, and empower them interpersonally. Using these skills as a foundation I help clients explore faith and life transitions, as well as learn coping skills to deal with symptoms of depression and anxiety.

I am Gottman level 1 certified, IFS-informed, and trained in trauma-informed care, play therapy, and sand-tray therapy.
I view therapy as a collaborative journey where you can discover inner wisdom, make peace with your past, and create a more fulfilling present and future. I'm passionate about helping people express and externalize internal struggles, conflicts, or emotions. I aim to help clients cultivate a greater sense of self-insight and acceptance through the exploration of their inner selves. I understand that certain feelings and experiences can be challenging to convey solely through traditional talk therapy and emphasize the value of hands-on experiences for promoting emotional healing, self-discovery, and personal growth.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists

What is Internal Family Systems therapy?

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?

IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
