One of my core beliefs is that every individual can benefit from therapy and discover more about themselves. I am passionate about working with kids ages 9+, adolescents, young adults and parents. I acknowledge each stage of life can be difficult to navigate and I enjoy helping clients in life's transitions. Important challenges I aid in are anxiety, depression, self esteem and identity, LGBTQ concerns, conflict resolution, trauma, life transitions, faith transitions, and behavioral challenges. I am also passionate about working with athletes and understand the unique challenges that can come with playing a professional sport.

I work mainly from a Jungian and transpersonal perspective and I provide affirming therapy for people experiencing faith transitions, who are exploring spirituality outside of organized religion, are childfree, or single by choice.
Appointments available this week. I believe that a caring and genuine therapeutic relationship can help people to live a more meaningful, joyful, and productive life. Therapy provides a non-judgmental space in which to explore ways of navigating life’s stresses and challenges, find freedom from depression and anxiety, and connect more deeply with oneself. My approach is person-centered, gentle, direct, and practical, with an emphasis on finding hope and meaning even in the midst of suffering. I strive to create a safe space in which clients can address any difficulties they are experiencing and connect to their inner strength.

I am also very experienced in incorporating spirituality in care if that is requested.
Every person (including you!) has value and worth. It doesn’t matter who you are, how old you are, what you have done, or what has happened to you. You are valuable, just because you are here. Secondly, know that your life has value and a meaning – even when you are in pain. Many of us at various times of life need a little extra help-whether to process “stuff” that happened, or to figure out why we do what we do – I have a lifetime of experiences and training to help you do just that!

Beginning where you are, I can help you address: desire discrepancies, orgasm concerns, painful sex, ED/premature ejaculation/delayed ejaculation, problematic sexual behavior, LGBTQ issues (orientation/concerns, transitioning MTF/FTM), intimacy concerns, infidelity, sexuality in a conservative culture, trauma, resolving conflicts between spirituality & sexuality, polyamory, "sexless" marriages, pornography concerns, etc.
We all have a sexual story. Some aspects of our story may continue to cause pain, cause embarrassment, induce shame or guilt, keep us from fulfilling our sexual potential, block us from feeling whole or cause ongoing problems in our most intimate relationships. As a trained sex therapist, I have experience to help you address challenging aspects of sexuality integrating all aspects of sexuality including the physical, the emotional, the mental and spiritual aspects.

I believe that self trust and connection to self offers the freedom to live a fulfilling and authentic life. We show up better in relationships when we learn to show up well for ourselves. At times, our own personal exhaustion, loneliness, hurt, worry, and fear can contribute to relational distress, inability to cope, and difficulty recognizing our inner strengths. If we can learn to be honest with ourselves and others about our needs and desires we can begin to heal past or current wounds and strengthen relationships.

I am a Marriage and Family Therapist specialized to work with couples struggling with intercultural differences. You might feel like there is a disconnect between you and your partner which has led you to feel distant from each other. Maybe you disagree on how to raise the children, or what traditions and routines should look like in your family. These differences may also show up in your relationship with extended family. You are tired of discussing these topics and always ending in an argument with your partner. You want to feel closer to your partner, but you feel stuck and do not know how to make things better.

Reaching out for help is uncomfortable! Coming to therapy takes a lot of courage. The world feels heavy and hard right now. Our relationships are suffering leaving us feeling anxious, lonely, or depressed. You may feel like no matter how hard you try, you just can't seem to communicate with your partner or family members. Maybe discussions turn into arguments that never seem to get resolved, leaving you both feeling hurt and alone. Perhaps you or your loved one are dealing with a faith transition and you feel lost and confused. It's hard to love so much and yet feel so distant and disconnected!

Sometimes it is difficult to value ourselves. I believe all individuals have innate worth, and it is my goal to guide clients toward this understanding as self-insight and a healthy self-concept are foundational for emotional and mental well-being. Collaboratively, we will help you develop a kinder, more accurate view of self, deepen empathy, expand perspective, and foster peace and acceptance through trying journeys. Personal experiences have given me insight into depression, anger, and fear and the strength that comes from a trying situation.

I have over twenty years experience working with adolescents. My primary expertise is working with teens, parents and family dynamics but I love working with anyone who is seeking to empower and better themselves. I have experience working with almost every problem and issue but I have found that what truly makes a difference is when people learn to be the most powerful element of change in their own lives. People get better when they become empowered and learn to help themselves. That's when they start to look beyond their own limits. I love seeing people make this step, those are the ones I love working with the most.

Spirituality Therapists

What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?

Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.

What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?

There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.

Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?

Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.

How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?

Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
