I’m very passionate about strengthening families and couples as well as empowering individuals. I’m also particularly passionate about working with children of all ages. My professional experience to date has involved working on high-risk cases where therapy has often been court ordered. Working on such cases has taught me how to support clients dealing with legal issues, allowed me to gain experience working with complex family/marital/couple dynamics, encouraged me to expand my therapeutic skills, and has helped me to create an environment where therapy can be an enjoyable process for even the most resistant/skeptical of clients.

I believe we all have within us what it takes to grow, heal, and work towards our goals, and I am honored to be a part of this journey with my clients. If you’re not sure what to expect from counseling, that’s okay! Working with me starts with getting to know your story, what you’re struggling with, and what your goals are. You can ask me questions about my training, experience, and philosophy to help you determine if I could be a good fit for you.

All great relationships start with individuals. All people have something unique to offer one another, but with the stressors of day-to-day life such as anxiety, sadness, trauma, and self-esteem needs, navigating relationships with our partner and ourselves can take a back seat. I am focused on helping individuals and couples enhance their relationships with themselves and others. Each individual has the capacity to be loved, understood, and valued. This comes by first loving and understanding oneself, and then connecting with and understanding our partner.

I find people are far more capable and resilient than they realize. My approach to therapy is collaborative, eclectic and person-centered. Whether the challenge stems from anxiety, depression or conflict within your relationship, skills can be learned to navigate your life circumstance. Relationships make up the core of who we are as human beings and effort is needed to learn skills to communicate, have healthier conflict resolution or rebuild a relationship (with others and self).

My ideal client is someone who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, family issues, or relationship issues. My ideal client is open and honest, because my style is nonjudgmental and accepting of all identities. My ideal client wants to have a mix of "venting" sessions and "coping skill" sessions, and isn't afraid to have a bit of fun in the therapy process along the way. My ideal client is someone who wants to better themselves, is willing to work in the therapy room, as well as outside of session.

I'm here to be your trusted guide on this journey to a brighter, happier you. As a licensed practitioner in Utah since 1997, my journey has been one of continual growth and dedication. It all started with my rigorous studies and a transformative internship at Sewickley Valley Hospital near Pittsburgh, PA. This experience laid the foundation for me to earn my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the School of Professional Psychology at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. After completing a fulfilling three-year contract in Tooele, I made the exciting decision to open my own office and extend my practice to Davis County.

Hi, my name is Treasa Lewis and I am a licensed therapist. I first got into this field because of my own experiences with trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, hearing loss, a child of an addict, codependency and attachment issues. I realized that I can help others try to understand, feel validated and realize they are not alone in the struggle of finding their true authentic self.

I believe that as we set goals, it's important to celebrate the small success stories along your path. As we develop our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors across our lives we question if they feel disruptive or wrong. We all face difficulties with barriers and stressors as we navigate life's complex systems but too often, we dismiss those feelings and struggle on. Taking an active approach is how we process our circumstances and gain back control for personal self-care, growth or happiness. By taking time to reflect on our own needs, you can focus on living a healthier and more fulfilling life with the use of therapy.

My priority as a therapist is to create an open and comfortable space for you so as to facilitate exploration and change. I use strength-based, egalitarian, and person-centered approaches and I especially enjoy helping folks understand negative thought patterns that influence deeply held and sometimes unconscious core beliefs about themselves.

Does insurance cover therapy, prescriptions and other behavioral health services?
In general, yes. Laws in the U.S. require insurers to cover essential behavioral health care at the same level as other health care services. Most health plans require a medical diagnosis and treatments that are evidence based and medically essential. This means that life coaching and alternative therapies are not covered, nor is therapy without a diagnosis. Call the number on the back or your insurance card or visit your insurance company's website to review your Summary of Benefits. If you have insurance through your employer, your Human Resources department may also be able to answer questions.
How much does therapy cost with insurance?
The cost of therapy depends on your region, how much training and experience your therapist has, and the type of treatment. The rate for talk therapy generally falls between $100 and $250. For a client seeing an in-network provider, the cost of therapy is often similar to the cost of other health care services. Clients pay co-pays and may need to satisfy a plan’s deductible before benefits kick in.
What is the difference between In-Network and Out-of-Network insurance coverage?
An in-network provider has contracted with an insurer to get paid directly for services, and to accept the insurer’s rate of compensation. Clients are responsible for deductibles and copays. If a therapist is out of network, that means that the client pays the therapist directly for services at the therapist’s regular fee. Out-of-Network providers often give clients a receipt so that they can file for partial reimbursement with their insurance company.
Is it difficult to find an In-Network therapist?
It is not unusual for therapists to limit the number of insurance patients in their practice, so it’s important to check in-network availability when you schedule your first appointment. In regions and times where therapy is in high demand it may take longer to get scheduled with an in-network therapist.
What is the difference between HMO and PPO insurance plans?
HMO health plans only cover in-network services, there is no reimbursement for out-of-network providers. PPO plans often cover both in- and out-of-network services, though the client may pay more for out-of-network services.
What is a Superbill?
A superbill is a receipt for therapy services. It provides all the information required by insurance companies to reimburse you for out-of-network services, including the diagnostic codes for your care, the amount paid, and the dates and duration of care.
Does insurance cover Online therapy?
Many therapists who shifted their practice to online therapy during the pandemic have kept that arrangement. And most insurers continue to cover telehealth services, with a few exceptions. Preventive care (such as an annual depression screening) is often required to be in-person to be covered, and some states require prescribers of controlled substances to see those patients in person.
Does insurance cover Group therapy?
Many insurance plans provide coverage for group therapy provided there is a medical diagnosis for group members, but there are some noteworthy exceptions. For example, Medicare does not always cover group therapy. Group therapy tends to cost less than individual therapy.
Does insurance cover Couples therapy?
Most insurance companies do not cover the cost of couples therapy because there is no medical diagnosis or medically necessary treatment. However, a few plans will offer a limited benefit, so it is still worth checking with your insurance company. Sometimes therapy is covered for a couple when one person has a diagnosis and another family member joins them for joint therapy, but it is considered therapy for the medical condition that includes a family member as a listener or helper, not couples counseling. Without insurance, most clients pay between $100-300 per 60-90 min session for couples therapy. Often clients can find classes or workshops that make it more affordable to work on their relationship. And some employers offer benefit plans that help defray the cost of couples therapy.
