Is stress, anxiety and depression plaguing you? Do you feel more disconnected than ever in this post-pandemic world? Have you ever been curious about what therapy with horses might be like? I'd love to offer you the experience of something different, through a felt experience of change either through in-person talk therapy or equine assisted psychotherapy (I also offer Telehealth!). Therapy can be a place to feel safe, seen and find pathways to new ways of being in the world. I hope to meet you soon!

You have tried the discipline, the goal setting, the "fake it til you make it," the busyness, the books, the podcasts, the rigidity, the perfection, the formulas, the positivity, and yet you still feel stuck and without hope. ‘Is this really what life is going to be like forever?” you ask quietly to yourself. Dear soul, it is time to return home. To learn to breath, rest, and attune all in the safety of your own body. Together we will make room for the thinking, feeling, and sensing body to emerge. It's time to plant roots in the goodness of your body, your "youness" and the wisdom already blooming within you.

In my two decades as therapist, I have been honored to witness people move through incredible challenges and sometimes transform the trajectory of their lives, Just as our bodies send healing to our physical wounds, we hold inside us all we need to be move through tremendous struggles to emerge whole. Our innate capacity to heal is in all of us. It is outside of our awareness because our minds are full of noise. I help my clients become inner explorers. I help them develop a lens of self-compassion, freedom from judgment and gentle curiosity about themselves. When we are at peace within ourselves, everything is possible.

As a queer, feminist, anti-racist, kink & poly positive therapist, I work to provide a safe space for diverse clients and sexual issues.
Hi, I'm Karli. :) I'm so glad you're here! I am passionate about working with people who want a safe and sex-positive environment to grow individually and relationally in their sexuality and eroticism. I often work with people who feel hopeless about their sex life, relationship conflict, or dating insecurities, or who have internalized sexual shame keeping them from exploring their pleasure and desires. I also work with people experiencing sexual dysfunction and pain. If you are feeling insecure or hopeless, I would love to help show you just how common and valid your experiences are.

I couple that with a deeply humanistic approach, as well as feminist, anti-racist, and systemic lenses through which to conceptualize behavior.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor practicing in Austin, TX who works with folks experiencing anxiety, perfectionism, and people pleasing tendencies. My style can be adapted to work with just about anyone, but the clients who find their way to me tend to be millennial aged women, often in high performance careers, and often married with children. My clients require space to express their feelings after years of putting others before themselves. Sometimes, the tendency to under-prioritize the self comes from a background of childhood neglect, high expectations, and/or verbal abuse. Clients come to me for self-actualization.

I am committed to anti-racist, LGBT+-affirming, feminist practice that examines the complex roles of systems in our lives.
Struggle is a part of life, but our struggles can often make life feel overwhelming, stifling, or meaningless. It’s all too easy to get stuck in patterns of living and relating that feel like endless repetitions of old models that seem to generate more problems than they solve. Whether your goal is healing from traumas, improving relationships, addressing complex mental health concerns, or striving for a deeper and more meaningful understanding of life and yourself, I believe that therapy can be an invaluable tool for exploration, healing, and growth.

My therapeutic approach draws from psychodynamic, person-centered, attachment-based, and feminist theories.
I work with adults and children. I consider my client’s cultural context and values, so that our work together is sensitive, relevant, and respectful of your individuality. My practice is also inclusive and affirming of queer-identified people. I am aware of the ways that one’s intersecting identities can shape their experiences, I am here to offer guidance, validation, and understanding. With children, I provide a space for kids to learn about their feelings, and how to process them. I draw from child-centered play therapy techniques and tailor my approach to honor your child's agency, individual preferences, and interests.

I teach clients the practical communication and coping skills of cognitive behavioral therapy through a feminist and multiculturally-informed lens.
Do other people push you around? Do you have a hard time saying no, and speaking up for yourself? Is it hard to even know what you want at all? Let's find your voice together. You'll discover what you need, and how to ask for it. You'll learn to identify your boundaries, put them into words, and expect respect from other people. Best of all, by learning to care for yourself, you can improve your relationships with your loved ones, too.

I use an approach informed by Interpersonal Neurobiology, Terry Real's Relational Life Therapy and Feminist Psychology.
I work with individuals and couples who are struggling with their relationships or feeling stuck in their lives. I believe it takes courage to show up as our authentic selves, and in our work I encourage clients to stand in their truth and live in a way that feels fulfilling. I work with couples who are experiencing conflict, disconnection, or are recovering from betrayal. I help couples learn relational health by shedding light on dysfunctional patterns, improving communication of needs and feelings, and practicing co-regulation.

I integrate post-modern, person-centered, feminist, mindfulness, and cognitive behavioral therapies into my approach.
How are you today? Really, how are you? Browsing these pages can be overwhelming – the unfamiliar words, the multitude of smiling faces. Those smiles can seem insulting in the face of overwhelming depression. Who do you pick? It’s okay to have questions and doubts; it’s okay to pick someone and change your mind once you meet them. My name is Cherise (she/her) and I am an LPC-Associate. This means that I have the education and experience to have a provisional license to counsel, but must do so under supervision. You not only have a qualified therapist, you also have a second, more experienced therapist behind the scenes.

We are Anti-Racist, Feminist and Social Justice orientated providers, owned and operated from a multiethnic perspective.
We are a multiethnic and multiracial group practice that centralizes care for BIPoC and LGBTQIA+ communities. Clients who come to us are working though life challenges related to their identities. They are often in a process of self-exploration, working to make sense of their place and identity in the world where they are made to feel like "the other" and have been marginalized, traumatized, and blatantly microaggressed. We recognize the importance of finding providers who get it, from a shared and lived experience. Here, our aim is connect communities of color and queer communities with providers of color and queer providers.

I use Interpersonal neurobiology, feminist theory, parts work, as well as techniques from Gottman and EFT.
As an associate, I am Supervised by Nicole Richardson, LPC-S, LMFT-S. This means that I consult weekly with a more senior therapist to ensure that I am offering my clients the best of care. Everyone loves a new baby in the family, but it is often difficult for parents to feel seen and supported during one of the most challenging times in their lives. I enjoy working with people in intimate partnerships and individuals who are new parents or trying to be new parents. There is so much to explore here: your new identity as a parent, learning how to parent, and figuring out how your relationships have changed with everyone in your life.

She applies Collaborative Therapy and Attachment Theory with a feminist/queer lens and evidence-based techniques.
Brooke sees her role as a mirror for her clients, reflecting the patterns she observes to guide them towards discovering their inner-voice and wisdom. She believes that by exploring personal development and examining our interactions within relationships, we can unravel the patterns that hinder our relationships, or self-love. Through active engagement in therapeutic dialogue and collaboration, Brooke aims to support the client through a treatment plan that is specific to the client because therapy is not a one size fits all experience.

I bring elements of feminist, social justice, attachment, person centered, and queer theory together with solution-based techniques to create a holistic approach to rewrite your story the way you want it to be.
You’re here, and that’s a huge first step. Finding a nonjudgemental, compassionate therapist to share your struggles with isn’t easy, I definitely understand that. Together we’ll tackle those struggles, your desires, your pain points. We’ll fight together within the confines of society to discover your authentic self and learn to share your magic outwardly. Let’s work together to find the relationships you want, the love you want, the sex, the job, the life that brings you joy - the YOU that you want.

I am Lorin Williams East, a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 6 years of clinical experience. I have had the honor of working alongside survivors of abuse and assault, which has given me a deep understanding of how people can live with traumas they have experienced. I use a mix of Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Dialectical (DBT), Feminist, and Trauma Focused therapies. I believe we all deserve compassion and a space to be authentic while growing and learning to function in each individual life.

Feminist Therapists

How does feminist therapy work?

Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.

What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?

Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.

How long does feminist therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

Does feminist therapy work?

As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
