Do you constantly worry that you are not enough? Was your childhood choatic? Eventhough you worked really hard to have a good life, sometimes the worry and anxiety crept in. Do you feel overwhelmed by just getting through the day and wonder if there is any light at the end of the tunnel? Do you wonder if your emotional health could be better? Now more than ever women are feeling anxious and overwhelmed about moving past their previous trauma. I am a LPC and I am passionate about helping adults with childhood trauma using EMDR, Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Mindfulness.

When you begin to recognize that your enjoyment of your child seems to be decreasing while feelings of being stuck, stressed, or overwhelmed are increasing, early childhood mental health services can be an effective tool to get things back on track. Healthy parent/child relationships reflect secure attachment, responsive attunement, and mutual enjoyment. But many things can interrupt that process, even typical things like the birth of a sibling or starting school. These experiences can contribute to challenging behaviors in children that are difficult to handle. Therapy can help to restore connection and understanding.

Do you struggle to manage the daily stressors of your everyday life? Or does something from your past keep coming up? Do you find that these concerns impact other areas of your life? Work? School? Relationships? Do you feel exhausted, overwhelmed, or lost with how to move forward and live a happy and healthy life? Now more than ever, people feel anxious, overwhelmed, and uncertain about how to manage their relationships, careers, and lives. Pushing your needs away and not taking time for yourself can lead to long-term issues for your mind and body. I believe it should not be so hard to live a better life.

Somewhere along the way, you learned to shrink parts of yourself in order to make others feel more comfortable. You are constantly concerned with what other people think of you, want from you and need from you, and feel you can't prioritize yourself. People-pleasing aka codependency can be a serious issue that wreaks havoc on your life if not addressed and worked through. Seeking approval from others is usually a deep-seeded attachment pattern that was developed in order to get your needs met at one point in time, however, you do not need to rely on those patterns anymore - so it's time to change them.

As a highly sensitive, intuitive, and introverted person, I understand how the demands of your career, relationships, and environment can take a mental toll on your well-being. Sometimes you may feel like you want to run and escape, or you may struggle to get out of bed because the thought of your to-do list is exhausting and daunting. Other times, you may keep yourself so busy that you’re numb to your emotions and on a fast track to burnout. I get it. I've been there. As a millennial working woman, it can be hard to maintain a balanced lifestyle if anxiety, trauma, and unhealthy attachments are blocking you.

For as long as you can remember, your child’s been an anxious kid. You hoped they’d grow out of it, but it only seems to get worse. Getting them to school each day is a tear-filled struggle and you're struggling with how to help them. They spend more time in the office asking to go home than they does in class. Every anxious experience limits thieir world further. You try your best to accommodate their feelings, but you worry you’re making things worse. It’s getting to the point where all they seems comfortable doing is playing alone at home. Something has to change.

Hi there! I’m excited that you’ve chosen to add therapy to part of your self-care. I was raised by my Korean immigrant grandmother and Black grandfather. This informs a lot of my therapeutic approach. I believe we have to approach healing through a holistic lens and view each person as a part of many systems including their family, community, culture, religion, society, and others. Intersectionality helps us understand that we are more than one “thing.” At all times we are carrying and accessing multiple parts of our identity that mix to form something beautifully complex– YOU!

Online Therapists

Is online therapy as effective as in-person?

Numerous studies suggest that online therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy. However, further research is needed to determine if online therapy provides the same benefits across all client populations. Individuals with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, or those who may benefit from in-person check-ins, like those with eating disorders, may not experience the same level of benefit from online therapy. Nonetheless, the success of online therapy, much like in-person therapy, often hinges on the quality of the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client rather than the specific modality of therapy used.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of therapy conducted online?

One of the main advantages of online therapy is its convenience for both clients and therapists. It also allows clients who require specialized therapy to access a wider range of professionals than they could with only in-person sessions. Additionally, online therapy may be a more affordable option in some cases and often offers the same insurance benefits as in-person therapy. However, online therapy may not be suitable for everyone, especially those who value face-to-face interaction with a therapist. Therapists may find it more challenging to assess clients accurately in an online setting due to reduced nonverbal cues on camera. There is also the increased risk that disruptions caused by external factors, such as technology malfunctions, can hinder the therapy session. For these reasons, many therapists offer a "hybrid" therapeutic approach, alternating between seeing clients in-person and online.

Is online therapy suitable for children and adolescents?

Just like with adults, the accessibility and convenience of online therapy can greatly benefit children and adolescents. In fact, children and adolescents may be more accustomed to navigating online platforms than older adults, making online sessions feel more natural for them. Teens might also be interested in using additional online tools, such as therapist-recommended apps, as an adjunct to online therapy sessions. Apps for developing CBT skills, practicing mindfulness exercises, or tracking thoughts and moods can be helpful for teens receiving therapy. However, it's important to note that not all therapeutic modalities are well-suited to online therapy, especially those used with younger children. For example, play therapy, which helps younger children express their emotions, often requires in-person sessions to be fully effective.

Can I receive prescriptions and medication management with online therapy?

The ability for psychiatrists to prescribe medications through online therapy varies based on the medication and the states where the medical professional and client are located. While many prescribing regulations were relaxed during the COVID-19 pandemic, some states still enforce rules, especially concerning controlled substances, which may mandate an in-person visit before prescribing. Generally, however, medical professionals can prescribe non-controlled substances through online therapy sessions just as they do during in-person sessions.
