I am a retired school counselor that has experienced many situations as well as a private counselor that has counseled with adolescents dealing with problems in the home. I am also a retired professor of counselor education, teaching and practicing for 20 years.. I have 20 years experience working with individuals, families and children who have experienced domestic violence/sexual assault, trauma, along with the stress that comes with daily living.

As a marriage and family therapist, I view therapy from a systemic perspective. This means that my focus is not on individuals, but on relationships. The focus of treatment from this perspective is on interactions within systems, such as family and society, even when working with an individual. I believe effective therapy is based on faith that every individual or family has the ability to affect change within their own relationships. While I encourage clients to bring important relationships into therapy, I am qualified to work with clients one-on-one.

Being a Latina allows me to understand the impact that different cultures and norms have on our lives and the effects on our thoughts and behaviors. I am passionate about working with all communities, especially minority communities to help improve wellness.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor specializing in domestic violence, sexual assault, trauma, anxiety, depression, and parenting skills. I use a person-centered and eclectic approach in sessions; meaning meeting a client where the are and tailoring the approach to meet their individual needs.

My style is best described as one blending gratitude, realism and compassion. Similarly, with certifications in both DBT and EMDR, I find working with others to be an enriching process as well as learning how to be resilient in the face of change. I have also completed Level 1 Clinician Training in the Gottman Method Couples Therapy in order to help couples become better at communicating with one another and bridging those gaps which often occur in relationships.

I am Certified Trauma therapist (CCCTP-I) and I specialize in relational trauma. I have a Doctorate in Community Care and Counseling with an Emphasis on Traumatology. You have what you need to heal, sometimes we just need an outside person to help us recognize those strengths.
